Everything we know about Channel Tres' upcoming debut studio album Head Rush
The album's announcement comes just a week after the release of the artist's second single from the upcoming LP titled Cactus Water, which dropped alongside his feature on Kaytranada's third studio album TIMELESS.
Channel Tres' new album became the talk of the town as the lead single for the project, Berghain (Feat. Barney Bones) was distributed to all DSPs on May 3, 2024. Tres also uploaded a visualizer for the record on his YouTube channel, highlighting a unique dark dystopic vibe the rapper appears to be aiming for on Head Rush.
RCA Records recently shared a press release in which the rapper detailed the thought process behind producing his debut studio album and the emotional impact that creating these tracks had on him.
He explained how finding the right way to artistically highlight his vision for the album was difficult as he had to dig deep into his own "psyche." Channel proceeded to state:
"There were things about my story that I didn’t know how to express, musically or lyrically. I would say my artistry has grown to a place where I’m comfortable sharing this much at one time."
The artist highlighted how his biggest struggle was blocking out the noise and pressure he subconsciously put on himself, and removing all the traces of doubt from his mind.
"I came to a point where I couldn’t focus on too many things at once. In the past, I felt boxed in by the way people knew me, I learned very early on that if you want to push a narrative, it can be pushed. You have to direct people. I know if I play a minor chord it’s gonna make you feel sad," Channel Tres continued.
The rapper further highlighted that his success was proof that all the insecurities he felt burdened with were never really true.
"You’ve worked your whole life for this, you’ve been able to do these shows and walk into these rooms and make these songs. There’s no reason you have to live by the same insecurity that you had to use in years past," Channel added.
RCA Records emphasized that Channel Tres' debut album is a "richly layered record" that finds the rapper tapping into his listeners' emotions and feelings, and showcases his artistic versatility and honesty. This was seen with his recently released Cactus Water, the music video for which was released today.
Channel Tres rose to fame in 2018 with the release of his single Controller, which aimed to establish him as an artist willing to push boundaries in pursuit of a unique sonic value.
