Exploring the list of OTF members indicted for the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin amid Lil Durk's arrest
On Thursday, October 24, five individuals from Chicago’s OTF record collective were arrested by federal agents in relation to the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin Saviay’a Robinson, including Kavon London Grant aka Vonnie, Deandre Dontrell Wilson aka DeDe, Keith Jones aka Flacka, David Brian Lindsey aka Browneyez, and Asa Houston aka Boogie.
They were also indicted at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles but arraigned at Chicago’s Dirksen U.S. Courthouse. The five men have been charged with multiple felony counts, including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.
The case is expected to move to California for further proceedings as the crime happened there. So far, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert has asked for their detention.
At the time, it was reported that Lil Durk was picked up by the feds as part of the investigation but was not named as a defendant in the indictment.
Additionally, he purportedly continued to deny that OTF members were involved in gang-related rivalry and alleged criminal activities.
According to the prosecution, these five suspects, who are reportedly members of a Chicago street gang, used rental cars and flights to commit the crime, all of which were paid with credit cards linked to OTF.
Besides, they have also claimed that an unnamed member from the label reportedly offered “lucrative music opportunities” to anybody who would slay Quando Rondo.
For those uninitiated, Rondo, who is also nicknamed Q-Pac, was at a gas station in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles on August 19, 2022, along with his 24-year-old cousin Saviay’a Robinson and other associates. However, a group of men soon began shooting at them, killing Robinson, while Rondo escaped unharmed.
Since the investigation unfolded, federal authorities have surmised that the shooting was a retaliation for the murder of rapper and suspected Black Disciples gang member King Von, who was a mentee of Lil Durk.
Von was killed in the middle of a night in November 2020 following an altercation with Quando Rondo’s crew outside a lounge in Atlanta, Georgia.
The charges against 22-year-old suspect Timothy “Lul Timm” Leeks were dropped in August 2023 under the state’s “stand-your-ground” law, meaning, he shot at Von in self-defense.
