Producer, director, and videographer Choke No Joke recently claimed that Jay-Z’s friendship with record executive Dame Dash came to an end after the latter reportedly made a move on his wife and singer Beyonce. The allegations were made during Choke’s latest interview with HYPE+, uploaded on YouTube (@Comedy Hype) on October 14.
When asked whether the Roc-A-Fella co-founders fell apart due to the late singer-actress Aaliyah, No Joke claimed it was only “50 percent of it,” adding that Dame “back-doored” Jay-Z and “stole” Aaliyah when he was the latter’s girlfriend first. However, things went further south when Dash seemingly tried to score with Queen Bey.
“Dame was trying to shoot at Beyonce too. And that was it for Jay. Like damn n*gga you took a live, like now you shooting at this one too? Like, I really like this one… I might even marry her…” Choke No Joke claimed.
The industry insider claimed that during his time at the Roc-A-Fella records, he saw alleged frequent feuds between the co-founders, especially when it came to fighting over women.
Exploring in detail Choke No Joke’s latest claims about Jay-Z and Dame Dash
Late singer, actress, dancer, and model Aaliyah was romantically involved with both Jay-Z and Dame Dash between the late 1990s and the early 2000s. Regarding the same, Choke No Joke recently alleged that the duo fell apart over her. He explained how the Roc Nation boss dated Aaliyah first, and he saw the couple at parties, such as Lil Kim’s album release party at The Park around 2000.
The documentarian shared how he wanted to interview them together, but Jay refused and said it should be separate as they wanted to keep the relationship private. He also mentioned how he took videos at the party while Johnny Nunez captured stills, and asked the interviewer to Google pictures of the pair together.
Choke No Joke went on to explain that while Jay didn’t want to go public with the One In A Million singer, Dash took the opportunity and “got in her head,” after which “she went that way.”
He further alleged that after Aaliyah, Dame Dash tried to make advances towards Beyonce, which was allegedly the last straw for Jay-Z. He added that it was not “corny” that two grown-up men fought over women and explained that it “got to a point of disrespect” and superseded the existing friendship.
“You [Dame] did it once and I [Jay-Z] let you go. You got the girl [Aaliyah]. But now you doing it again, now it’s disrespect, bro… Dame can’t go out there and get his own, he’ll take yours. Don’t bring your girl around him, tell you. Hey, he thinks it’s cool,” No Joke alleged.
He even claimed that Jay-Z was not the only one betrayed by Dash, record producer Ski Beatz reportedly also got his girlfriend taken from him by Dame, who in turn “had a kid with her, married her.”
During the chat, the artist shared how Shawn Carter was “smart” to make Beyonce his wife and do “cross-marketing of brands through relationships” as he would not be where he is today without Queen Bey. He also shared how, with both Aaliyah and the Dangerously in Love singer, Jay was careful during the early days and was “sneaking” around until he was sure.
Besides talking about Jay-Z and Dame Dash and how their friendship fell apart, in the same interview, Choke No Joke also mentioned how the former shared a “bromance” with now-disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Last month, in the wake of Diddy’s arrest, old pictures of Jay-Z, Dame Dash, and the Bad Boy Records founder, JLo, and Aaliyah partying together (dated July 2, 2000) resurfaced online.
At the time, Dame Dash admitted on Instagram Live that he did attend Diddy’s annual Fourth of July parties at the Hamptons over two decades ago with Aaliyah and several other industry people, but never attended his now-infamous alleged freak-off parties.
