DJ Akademiks, a known Drake fan, has publicly sided with Drizzy during his feud with Kendrick Lamar. However, his recent livestream clip shared by the NFR podcast on X on December 6, 2024, showcased that Lamar's diss track Not Like Us ranked as his top song on Spotify Wrapped.

The track was followed by Drake's Euphoria, Family Matters, and Push Ups, on ranks three, four, and five, respectively. During the livestream, Akademiks appeared visibly uncomfortable, seemingly trying to hide that Not Like Us ranked in the topmost position on his Spotify Wrapped. In the video, the podcaster said:

"Oh s*it, I did show it now."

He then proceeded to show the full order of tracks on his Spotify Wrapped, stating that he didn't know how Kendrick Lamar's track ranked number 1.

Netizens quickly took to X to comment on the revelation, with one user trolling the podcaster:

"Damn he was only doing it for the fame"

Several internet users shared their perspectives on the podcaster's Spotify Wrapped.

"Ni**a said “I don’t even know how it was # 1” 😂😂😂. You know bro. You know," an X user commented.
"Everyone have Kendrick diss songs on repeat even the haters 😂 they just hit HARD," an internet user stated.
"He a fan deep down inside," another internet user mentioned.

Additionally, some took digs at the podcaster concerning his equation with Drake, given his number 1 track was Lamar's diss on Drizzy:

"He never getting that Drake interview 😂," an X user tweeted.
"Buddy was listening to all Kendrick’s disses than drake’s 🤦🏽‍♂️" another X user tweeted.
"AK must be the mole in Drake's camp" a netizen said.

"Normally Kendrick Lamar wouldn't sniff my spotify wrapped"— DJ Akademiks opens up on Lamar's track topping his Spotify Wrapped

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us topping DJ Akademiks' Spotify Wrapped sparked significant trolling and backlash for the podcaster. On December 4, 2024, he took to X to explain the situation, stating:

"Normally Kendrick Lamar wouldn't sniff my spotify wrapped.. but he's #2 on mine.. the explanation for that is thats what happens when u beef with every1 favorite rapper.. we gotta listen to ur s*it too cuz of the beef. Beefing when its just musical competition helps both artists"

In a follow-up retweet, the podcaster added that Lamar's presence on his Spotify Wrapped was proof that "beefing with a bigger artist is the ultimate stimulus package" one can get, referring to Drake as the bigger artist in his statement.

DJ Akademiks has spoken against Kendrick Lamar multiple times. In a recent instance, the podcaster questioned the rapper's principles for giving an interview to Harper's Bazaar. As reported by Tribune in October 2024, the podcast alleged that Kendrick Lamar turned his back on hip-hop culture for media opportunities outside the hip-hop domain.

Commenting on this during a live stream on October 22, 2024, Akademiks said:

“A guy who says he's only for the culture... but as soon as he gets an opportunity... he runs to it."

The podcaster also accused the wacced out murals rapper of profiting from hip-hop culture without supporting it fully, comparing Lamar to Jay-Z. Additionally, he alleged that Kendrick Lamar was a hypocrite for supporting Colin Kaepernick while performing at the Super Bowl in 2022. This reference pointed back to Lamar's support for Kaepernick in 2017, when Kaepernick was unsigned due to the controversy surrounding his kneeling and sitting during the national anthem.

During a live stream on December 1, 2024, DJ Akademiks congratulated Kendrick Lamar for his latest album, GNX, ranking number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. While the podcaster called Lamar's album a "decent number," he said that Lamar could die 15 deaths, and he still wouldn't be able to compete with Drake for streaming overall.
