Dave Matthews Band last released a studio album back in 2023. The album titled Walk Around the Moon was released on May 19, 2023. Successful after its release, the album charted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Dave Mathews elaborated on the album in an exclusive interview with Variety on May 19, 2023, stating at first that the futility of human life inspired it before pivoting around and saying:

"The sheer magnitude of how impossible it is that we’re here, that we exist. What an awe inspiring event it is, and that this planet is so hospitable."

He later adds the album allowed him to explore a more selfish time in his life:

“To wander a little bit further before someone else said, ‘That’s great.’ I could finish some ideas a little more before some other highly-qualified person got involved, so that gave me a little bit of freedom.”

As mentioned above, Dave Matthews Band is being inducted into the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside the acts Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Mary J. Blige, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, and Kool & The Gang.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame captions their induction in the following way:

"Dave Matthews Band harnessed an eclectic sound and relentless touring schedule to become one of the biggest bands in the world. Long, intricate solos, non-traditional rock & roll instruments, unique time signatures, and an electric live show trademark their unique sound."

Aside from being Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, Dave Matthews Band has also been Environmental Goodwill Ambassadors for the United Nations and has been part of the Farm Aid series of concerts.
