DDG and Halle Bailey have recently split after being in a relationship for around two years. While the former confirmed the same through Instagram on October 3, 2024, the announcement led to his dispute with media personality Joe Budden.

The beef began when Budden addressed the split on his podcast two days later with a few comments that were not well-received by the rapper. DDG, also known as Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., shared two posts through his official page on X a day after Joe Budden spoke about the breakup.

While Darryl has gained recognition as a rapper over the years, Budden had once pursued a career in the same field in the past. Notably, Joe's additional work as a broadcaster has contributed to his net worth, which is $6 million, and it is more compared to DDG, whose net worth $2 million, as per CelebrityNetWorth.

Budden said in his podcast that he was happy after listening to the news of the split since he was tired of watching DDG's name being attached to Bailey every time. Joe also stated:

"I don't know him from nothing as a stand alone. For me, it's important to know people off their own name and merit and what they have done. Every time I see his name it's attached to hers and it's typically in some type of clout chaser fashion."

Darryl shared a response to the comments on October 6, 2024, as he posted a tweet with two photos taken from the website of RIAA. It shows that while Budden has only one single in his credits that was certified Gold, Darryl has three songs in the same category. Darryl referred to Budden's single by writing:

"Pump it up went gold after 20 years u old b*tch @JoeBudden I'm on u."

DDG posted another tweet, criticizing Joe for commenting on the relationship of someone whose age was the same as his son and added:

"I hope u forget to take your magnesium pills today u old b*tch @JoeBudden."

Darryl and Budden have managed to build a fanbase from their bodies of work over the years. As mentioned, Darryl has been active as a rapper for around nine years and Joe has also released many successful albums between 2002 and 2016.

Although DDG is known for his rapping skills, he additionally pursued a career in the world of boxing. Back in 2021, he also fought against Nate Wyatt at an event that was held in the Florida-based Miami Gardens. Notably, Darryl emerged as a winner in the fifth round of the match.

Apart from this, he has also been active on YouTube, which has additionally contributed to his wealth. He has launched five channels, accumulating billions of followers. He developed an interest in music during his childhood and completed his education at the International Tech Academy followed by Central Michigan University.

On the other hand, Joe Budden has expanded his career to his films and television, which has been one of his sources of income. He has appeared in various seasons of Love & Hip Hop: New York and his YouTube channel Joe Budden TV has accumulated around 1.45 million subscribers so far.

He has appeared as a host of shows like Everyday Struggle and launched his self-titled podcast in 2018. He has also gained recognition for presenting the late-night talk show, State of the Culture, which aired for two seasons until 2020.

Budden's rapping career dates back to 2002 when he released several singles. His first album Joe Budden came out the following year and reached the eighth position on the US Billboard 200.


DDG and Joe Budden's beef witnesses new developments

While Darryl criticized the broadcaster for the comments he made about the artist's separation from Halle Bailey, Budden has not responded to the tweets until now. However, Darryl has not stopped himself from targeting Joe and referred to the latter's song Pump It Up in an episode of No Ordinary Podcast on October 7. Darryl stated:

"It took you 20 years to go gold? To get a gold record, you gotta sell 500,000 copies, right? Just to put it in perspective, I got three gold records and [another] one [that's] double platinum."

DDG also described Budden as an "old man" and continued:

"He ain't an OG to me – n*gga, you ain't getting no respect from me – but he's like an old dude. I'm not going to lie: I looked up his accolades, and it made me feel way better about myself because a lot of people [get] on me crazy."

DDG and Halle Bailey made their relationship official in March 2022 and continued appearing together on different occasions. The pair welcomed a son named Halo in January this year.
