Dia De Los Deftones festival 2024: Presale code, lineup, date, location, & all you need to know

Dia De Los Deftones festival 2024 is set to be held on November 2, 2024 at the Petco Park in San Diego, California, US. The 2024 edition is the fifth overall edition of the festival and will be one of the few live performances by the founding band Deftones.

Artist Presale for the festival starts on July 24, 2024 at 10:00 am PT and requires a code for access. Said code can be gained by registering for the official mailing list at the band's official website. A Live Nation presale will be available from July 25, 2024 at 10:00 am local time. Said presale can be accessed with the code STRUM. General tickets will be available from July 26, 2024 at 10:00 am PT.

All presales and tickets will be available via Deftones' official website. The festival was announced via a Instagram post on July 23, 2024 at 10:00 am PT, with the announcement stating:

"Our 5th annual #DiaDeLosDeftones returns to San Diego on Nov 2, 2024. We’re really excited for this year’s lineup: IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate (performing Diary in its entirety), HEALTH, Paris Texas, Duster, Gel, and Qendresa will be joining us for this year’s celebration of music and culture."

Dia De Los Deftones festival celebrates the Día de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday which celebrates death and departed ones, with people welcoming back their dead relatives for a brief reunion and celebration.

This year's edition will sees Sunny Day Real Estate perform their 1994 album Diary in its entirety. The album is the band's debut and is considered to be one of the defining records of the Emo music movement's second wave in the US. The album's song Seven was featured in the video game Guitar Hero.

A separate press release on July 23, 2024 further elaborated on the shape and structure of the festival this year as well as its history, stating:

"On its two stages, Dia De Los Deftones showcases artists across the spectrum of culture, encompassing hip-hop, electronic, indie, alternative, and metal. Inviting complete immersion and an inimitable experience, its concourse comprises art installations, immersive activations, local vendors, exclusive merchandise, and more."

The press release continues:

"After four prior sold out installments, it has emerged as a celebrated annual tradition for Deftones and the greater Southern California community."

Dia De Los Deftones was first held in 2018, with the lineup featuring acts such as Future, Rocket From the Crypt and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. The festival has over the years seen performances by artists such as 100 Gecs, Phantogram, Doja Cat, CHVRCHES and Gojira, among others.

The intentions behind the festival were explained by the band in the days before the festival's first edition, with band member Abe Cunningham stating in a general press statement:

"We want this event to be a celebration; with the incredible artists we’ve assembled, and the experiences we’re curating for the festival site, it’s going to be a wonderful day and night for all who join us."

Aside from their performance at Dia De Los Deftones, Deftones will also perform at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California on August 17, 2024. The band wil perform alongside the band System Of A Down.
