American rapper and singer Lizzo took to Instagram on July 22, 2024, to defend Kamala Harris against critics claiming that she did not do much as a Vice President to Joe Biden. In her Instagram video, the About Damn Time singer showcased her disappointment and started the video by stating:

"Please, for $5,000. Do not use Google. Tell me what any vice president has ever done during their term that was notable that you noticed."

She also emphasized the passive role of a Vice President in the video, supporting Kamala Harris and speaking against trolls.

Internet users were quick to express their opinion on the singer's stance, and one internet user commented on the post, stating:

The Internet user referred to Dick Cheney as an example of a Vice President, as a satire, to the singer's question. Dick Cheney was the Vice President of the U.S. from 2001 to 2009 under George W. Bush and he accidentally shot Texas attorney Harry Whittington during a quail hunt in Texas in 2006.

While some internet users disagreed with the Truth Hurts singer, her fans took her side in the comment section:

"The vice president’s job is to take a backseat and support"— Lizzo defends Kamala Harris against critics

In addition to celebrities like John Legend, Cardi B, and Ariana Grande extending their support to Kamala Harris, Lizzo not only showcased her support but defended the 2024 Presidential elect nominee as well. In her Instagram video, the Good as Hell singer mentioned that people didn't troll or negatively comment on Joe Biden's role as Vice President during Barack Obama's term.

The singer said that the only thing she remembers Biden doing was "making cool videos with Barack" and when Joe Biden decided to run for President, nobody came forward with allegations claiming he didn't do much as a VP so she wonders why people are saying it for Harris.

Moreover, clarifying her understanding of the Vice President's role in Kamala Harris' context, the singer mentioned in the video:

“The vice president’s job is to take a backseat and support while the president does everything that’s forward-facing,”

Toward the end of the video, the singer asked everyone to "be for real" and say their quiet parts out loud stating "the discourse is tired".

The singer has always been vocal about her support for Kamala Harris and made headlines for her interview with the Vice President in September 2020 on National Black Voter Day. The Instagram Live featured a conversation between Lizzo and Harris discussing LGBTQ+ rights, black voter suppression, and Joe Biden's plan to name a Black woman to the Supreme Court.

In addition to the recent instance of the singer defending Kamala Harris against critics, the singer has been active in putting forth her political opinions. The Juice singer was one of the first celebrities to react to the news of Joe Biden stepping down from the 2024 Presidential elections.

She took to Instagram on July 22, 2024, to share a screenshot of the news piece stating Biden was dropping out of the race with her caption stating how everyone is "truly living in unprecedented times".
