In her 15-year-long career in the rap industry, Nicki Minaj has had feuds with several fellow rappers, including Remy Ma, Lil Kim, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, and others. However, her beef with Cardi B is the one that has stretched the longest, involving an altercation incident in 2018.
After Minaj was attacked by the Bodak Yellow rapper at a party in 2018, the former addressed the allegations made about her, in an episode of her Apple Music show Queen Radio. Denying having talked about Cardi B's daughter, she said:
"It's so sad for someone to pin that on me because I'm the bad guy and they know people would believe them. So let me just go on record having said, I would never talk about anyone's child or parenting."
The Pink Friday rapper continued:
"I just wanna let the world know that Onika Tanya Miraj would never, has never, or will never speak ill of anyone's child. I am not a clown. That's clown sh*t."
Nicki Minaj implied that Cardi B is a hypocrite
Nicki Minaj addressed the allegations placed on her by Cardi B, on her radio show with Apple Music on September 10, 2018. Minaj started the episode by playing an audio clip of Cardi B's alleged voice, where the latter was saying:
"I hate when some people come at me and they're like, 'Oh, Cardi, why you coming at people's kids for?' But I'm my mother's kid. Like, the same way your kid is your baby, I'm my mother's baby."
Minaj's intention behind the clip was to highlight that the Please Me rapper was a hypocrite, by attacking the former for something that she didn't mind doing herself. The 41-year-old then questioned her behavior by adding:
"The world gave you a blessing, of a beautiful bundle of joy, and the only thing on your mind after you gave birth was to attack people."
Nicki then went on to bring up unconfirmed allegations circulating about Cardi, saying:
"You calling black women roaches. You getting girls beat up because of what your man doing? Real b*tches never do that—you never attack the woman...you take that up with your f***ing man."
The Side to Side rapper then added that the younger rapper needed an intervention:
"You're angry and you're sad. This is not funny and this is not about attacking. This is about get this woman some f***ing help. This woman is at the best stage in her career and she's out here throwing bottles and throwing shoes? Who the f*** is going to give her a f***ing intervention?"
Minaj's words about Cardi B came after her shoe-throwing stunt at the Harper's Bazaar ICONS party
The incident that Nicki Minaj was referring to in her September 2018 podcast episode was Cardi B's shoe-throwing stunt that she pulled three days before, at the Harper's Bazaar ICONS party in New York, which both rappers attended.
A source described the entire incident to People magazine as "entourage against entourage," adding:
"It all happened 20 seconds after Kelly Rowland left Nicki Minaj — she was in between them. Cardi walked towards Nicki and all of a sudden Cardi started screaming something about her child. She was yelling, ‘B***h you feisty. B***h don’t talk s*** about my child’ at Nicki."
Then, Cardi B's shoe was out as it went flying toward Nicki Minaj. She also tried attacking the older rapper physically but was interrupted by Nicki's bodyguards and ended up with a bump on her forehead.
It was also later revealed that the shoe that the WAP rapper threw at Minaj ended up hitting one of her bodyguards; she was surrounded by eight or nine of them. Nicki Minaj called the incident "humiliating" and "mortifying" on her radio show.
A day after the incident, Cardi posted a screenshot of her notes on Instagram, where she implied that her outburst at the party was an outcome of the Swalla rapper liking a comment that insulted her "mothering skills." However, there has been no proof of her allegations on the internet so far.
Both Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are currently working on their upcoming studio albums. Cardi has promised her fans that her sophomore album will drop sometime in 2024, while Minaj is going to reveal the release date of her sixth album - Pink Friday 3 - in the coming weeks.
