Nicki Minaj is a self-proclaimed queen of rap - a title that she has worked hard for nearly 15 years to earn. Starting her career with a mixtape released with a music group, Minaj is currently one of the wealthiest female rappers in the world, with the highest number of Billboard top 10 hits alongside her net worth estimated to be $150 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth).
While the Super Freaky Girl rapper has completed four headlining world tours so far, her stage performances collectively - including music festivals and award shows - are frequent.
And when a rapper shows up to perform live as often as Minaj, there are bound to be some slip-ups here and there. One such slip-up occurred at the 41-year-old's most recent world tour, when she suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her Orlando concert on March 22. Here's a closer look at the incident.
Nicki Minaj's wardrobe malfunction occurred as she passed the mic to fans
On Friday, March 22, 2024, Nicki Minaj was in Orlando for the North American leg of her tour, where she was supposed to perform at the Kia Center that evening.
While Nicki Minaj was performing The Night Is Still Young on stage, the rapper invited fans to join in on the song. As Minaj bent down to share her mic with one of the fans, one of the shoulder straps of of dress slid down, revealing her chest.
While the fans didn't appear to have noticed it, it took a few minutes for the rapper to notice it herself. After she caught on to what had happened, Nicki Minaj readjusted her dress with a shocked expression on her face.
As she retrieved the mic from a fan, the Hey Mama rapper said:
"Meanwhile, my b**b is out and no one f***ing told me. Thanks, Barbz. My whole b**b was out! See, that’s what I get for talking about people."
Despite the malfunction, Nicki Minaj continued with her performance on stage, making the Orlando show one of the most remarkable concerts on her tour. Being fully sold out, all 12,689 seats were booked well before the show, with the Only rapper generating a revenue of $2,139,338.
The malfunction came soon after Minaj canceled her New Orleans show
The wardrobe malfunction Nicki Minaj suffered came soon after the cancelation of her New Orleans show. While the show was originally scheduled for March 18, 2022. It had to be canceled merely hours before the scheduled time, with Smoothie King Center (the venue of the concert) sharing on Instagram that it had to be done due to Minaj's sickness.
The caption of the Instagram post read:
"Due to doctor’s orders, Nicki Minaj must reschedule her NOLA show tonight. As Nicki is still sick, our team does not want to run the risk of getting others sick, and Nicki would not be able to give NOLA the show they deserve. We are working diligently to find a new date, so please hold onto your tickets, and we will inform you all soon."
Because of the last-minute nature of the cancelation, some fans appeared to be upset with the news and took to the comments section to express their disappointment.
However, ultimately, an understanding was reached with the prospective concert-goers, with May 8 being selected as the new date for the New Orleans show.
