Selena Gomez's professional achievements as an actress

Needless to say, Selena Gomez has come a long way from being a teen icon. The singer rose to fame with her role in Wizards Of Waverly Place. Gomez won the Nickoledean Kids' Choice Awards For Favorite Actress consecutively from 2009-2013. Most recently, Gomez filmed a Spanish Film, Emilia Perez, directed by Jacques Audiard.

Selena took home a major award at the Cannes 2024 Film Festival, winning the Best Actress for Emilia Perez. According to Elle magazine, the film also received the festival's jury prize and received an 11-minute standing ovation. Gomez was reportedly moved to tears as the audience at France’s Grand Lumiére Theatre at the Palais gave their longest round of applause of the year.

This was a core experience for Gomez as it was not only acting on the big screen again but also being in a Spanish film. Gomez reported that she wanted to do better speaking in Spanish. She told AP,

“I’m going to diminish myself a little bit here. This has nothing to do with the film, I am honored to be a part of it. I’m not as happy with what I feel like I could’ve done in Spanish."

She added,

"Overall, I hope that it doesn’t hinder my performance and I’m really grateful for the opportunity."

Selena's professional success as an actor has been growing each year. She has also earned merit with her work in the comedy series, Only Murders In The Building. Her role as Mabel Mora earned her a 2023 Golden Globe nomination.

Selena Gomez is all set to enter the billion-dollar club with her beauty brand, Rare Beauty. In an interview with the Time, Gomez revealed that she has no plans for selling her beauty business, estimated to be worth $1.2 billion as per Celebrity Net Worth. Additionally, as per their official website, The Rare Impact Fund dedicated to mental health has raised $15 million since Gomez founded the company in 2020.

In 2009, Gomez was also awarded the Youngest UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She has been an advocate for protecting young children since 17. Selena Gomez continues to contribute to people's well-being through Wondermind, a company dedicated to mental health. It aims to ease access to mental health services and has expert-backed-up content.

After a busy year of winning at Cannes, Gomez is set to portray veteran musician Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic. Earlier this year, it was also revealed by Teen Vogue that Gomez would be reprising her role in the Disney sitcom Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
