Tony Buzbee's alma mater is the latest point of focus in the grueling back and forth between the Texas attorney and the allegations against Jay-Z. In a complaint filed by Buzbee on Sunday, December 8, Sean "Jay-Z" Carter was accused of r*ping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean "Diddy" Combs in 2000. Jay-Z denied the accusation in a Roc Nation social media post released hours after the filing.

Amid the allegations, Carter's wife Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation made a $100,000 donation to the University of Houston’s Law Center on Wednesday, December 11. Coincidentally, this is the very same university that Buzbee attended, where he procured his JD. One X user who went by @YSLONIKA tweeted out on Wednesday:

"blogs posting bad press about tony, Jay z attending blue ivy’s red carpet and now they’re making donations to the same university Tony buzbee went to….? i know a damage control campaign when i see one."

X user @YSLONIKA's tweet was in response to prominent X page Pop Base's coverage of the aforementioned BeyGOOD Foundation donation.

The tweet went viral, prompting conversations about the timing of the donation and amassing over 426,000 views at the time of writing this article.

Tony Buzbee graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston Law Center

As mentioned earlier Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee was a student of the University of Houston Law Center. Buzbee joined the university after serving in the Marine Corps.

While studying to receive his JD (Juris Doctor), Buzbee even became the managing director of the prestigious Houston Law Review and was also a class captain.

This is far from Tony Buzbee's only achievement in the university. America's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators, the Texas-based attorney was placed second in his class after graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Buzbee also became the state and regional mock trial champion. As per his LinkedIn page, Buzbee was named the Best Advocate in the state tournament.

Following his graduation, Tony Buzbee started off his legal career by becoming a briefing attorney for a federal judge. After a stint as an associate at Susman Godfrey, LLP, Buzbee founded his own legal practice, The Buzbee Law Firm.

The Texas-based attorney also unsuccessfully tried running for Houston Mayor in 2019 and Houston City Council in 2023.

As mentioned earlier, Buzbee's alma mater received a $100,000 donation from Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation on Wednesday. The donation was made to the law center's Criminal Justice Clinic. UH Law Center Dean Leonard Baynes said in a news release on Wednesday:

"I am delighted that the BeyGOOD Foundation has made this very generous gift to the UH Law Center."

He added:

"Not only will this funding help establish a full-time criminal justice clinic that provides pro bono legal services in our community, but it will also supercharge our already excellent criminal law and justice programming."

The law center's assistant dean of clinical programs and clinical associate professor J. Anna Cabot was quoted by the Houston Chronicle stating that the funding would go towards a full-time faculty member and director for the clinic.

Cabot stated:

"We’re teaching future attorneys not only legal and lawyering skills but also how to critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the system so they can serve communities that lack options for effective and ethical legal representation."

In Tony Buzbee's refiled civil lawsuit from Sunday, an anonymous woman who went by Jane Doe claimed that Jay-Z and Diddy took turns to r*pe her while a female celebrity watched.

According to the lawsuit, the alleged incident took place at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000 when Jane Doe was only 13 years old.

Hours after the filing Jay-Z released a statement on Roc Nation's social media accounts denying the allegations. The 99 Problems hitmaker implored Tony Buzbee to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one and called him a "fraud" and "deplorable human".

Jay-Z stated that the claims against him were "idiotic" and hoped to show Buzbee how "different" he was from other celebrities.
