Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team has reportedly appealed his bail denial at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on October 8. So far, his bail has been rejected twice by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Judge Andrew Carter who was originally presiding over Diddy’s federal case reportedly denied a $50 million bond on the grounds of witness tampering/ intimidation, violent behavior, obstruction of justice, safety risk to others, and more.

Earlier, as part of the second bail appeal, Diddy’s legal counsel reportedly told the court that Combs would restrict his flying. However, now the Bad Boy Records founder was reportedly considering selling his private plane as part of the third bail appeal, as reported by Page Six. The aircraft is allegedly stationed in Los Angeles at present.

All you need to know about Diddy’s ongoing bail drama

Sean Combs was arraigned at the federal United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan on September 17 on the charges of racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

He pled “not guilty” to all the charges but was denied bail after the prosecutors argued that he was a “serious flight risk” considering his wealth and access to private jets. His first bail package worth $50 million comprised his $48 million Miami mansion alongside his mother Janice Hall Combs’ house as collateral. At the time, his attorneys offered the federal government to track his movements using a GPS monitor and also restrict his flying.

However, when the bail was declined, they appealed for the second time on the following day. It contained everything from the first bail package alongside the additional offer that the security company in charge of Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles among others would “hand over” visitor information to the investigators every night.

Additionally, Diddy reportedly agreed to weekly drug tests and limited his visitors to family members including his mother and kids, property caretakers, women who are only mothers of his children, and friends and associates who were not part of his case. He also vouched for no access to the internet and phones as well as 24/7 supervision.

Subsequently, Diddy’s defense team appealed his two-time bail denial at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit earlier this week. Reportedly, apart from the offers on the first and second bail package combined, Combs has offered to allegedly “put his private airplane up for sale” and limit his by-road travel to Miami and New York.

In this regard, the hip-hop magnate’s legal counsel has claimed that they presented a “robust bail package with extremely restrictive conditions” and even surrendered his passport, and requested his immediate pretrial release.

“Mr. Combs is presumed innocent. He traveled to New York to surrender because he knew he was going to be indicted. He took extraordinary steps to demonstrate that he intended to face and contest the charges, not flee. He presented a bail package that would plainly stop him from posing a danger to anyone or contacting any witnesses,” the lawyers shared via a statement.

They have also accused the bail denials and detention as a legal blunder, claiming they were “without factfinding or analysis.” They have further argued that the federal government has been unable to provide concrete and convincing evidence that Diddy was a “danger” to the community in any way and has called the witness tampering claim “vague” and “speculative.”

For those unaware, the rapper was arrested on September 16 from the Park Hyatt Hotel in New York City after a grand jury indicted him on three charges mentioned above. Currently, Diddy is being held at Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn without bond, until trial, the date of which has not been revealed yet.

He is scheduled to appear before the court on October 9. His lawyer Marc Agnifilo went on record to say that his client won’t be taking a plea deal. Whether his third pretrial release appeal would be granted remains to be seen. If convicted, Diddy is looking up to 15 years to life in federal prison, as per BBC.
