Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, is making headlines with the release of the first single from his upcoming 12th album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace). The single, Houdini, was released on May 31, 2024, and has garnered a lot of traction owing to the rapper name-dropping Megan Thee Stallion, citing Steve Miller, and featuring his three children.
In the Houdini video, the American rapper refers to his daughters Hailie, Alaina, and Stevie as "brats" and, in classic Eminem fashion, proceeds to state controversial lyrics like:
"And I’ll probably get sh*t for that (watch) / But you can all suck my d**k, in fact, f**k them/ F**k Dre, f**k Jimmy, fu**k me, f**k you / F**k my own kids, they’re brats (f**k ’em) / They can screw off, them and you all (yeah)."
In the song's music video, when Marshall Mathers sings the part mentioning his kids, Hailie, Alaina, and Stevie can be seen reacting disgustingly surprised via video call. While the video only features a single still of the rapper's children together, it went viral on X.
The presence of all three of the American rapper's daughters was also a pleasant surprise for some, wherein one of the fans exclaimed on X that this was the first time all three daughters cameoed on a music video for their father.
Eminem has one biological and two adopted daughters: Details about the rapper's children explored
Eminem shares three daughters with his ex-wife Kim Scott wherein Hailie Jade is the rapper's only biological child. Alaina Marie is the daughter of Kim Scott's sister, Dawn Scott. According to an article by PEOPLE dated May 20, 2024, Alaina Marie was adopted by the rapper in the early 2000s as her mother suffered from drug use and eventually died in 2016 from a suspected overdose.
His third daughter, Stevie Laine Scott, was born to Kim Scott and her boyfriend Eric Hartter. Kim dated Eric between her two marriages to Marshall Mathers. Eminem legally adopted Stevie in 2005 when he got together with Kim for the second time. According to PEOPLE, Stevie came out and declared their non-binary status in August 2021 and now uses all pronouns to describe themselves.
Hailie Jade has been mentioned in multiple songs by Mathers, like 97 Bonnie and Clyde, The Way I Am, and more. In an interview with Q dated 2001, the rapper stated that Hailie was a wake-up call for him.
"She made me get my a** in gear — to make something of my life and try 10 quadrillion times harder than I had before. Everything that I am doing right now is for Hailie … the money — it's for her college," he said.
Hailie Jade also appeared in the music video for Mockingbird and Hailie's Song.
The Superman rapper has always been vocal about his love for his daughters. In a 2010 interview with The New York Times, the rapper was asked about being a good dad, and he said that he loves his kids and that they've helped him through many things.
