American singer Maren Morris recently celebrated Pride Month on her social media by coming out as bisexual, following her divorce from country music singer, Ryan Hurd.
On June 10, 2024, Morris posted pictures from a show in Phoenix, Arizona with the caption:
"Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+. Happy pride 🌈"
For the unversed, the acronym stands for "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning" and other terms in the spectrum.
Morris finalized her divorce from Ryan on January 4, 2024, after five years of marriage. The couple has a son named Hayes Andrew Hurd, who was born on March 23, 2020. According to court documents, the couple reached a settlement agreement on all issues in their divorce, including child support and custody of their son.
Exploring Maren Morris's journey with her son, Hayes, as she comes out as bisexual in Pride Month
Maren Morris was born on April 10, 1990, in Arlington, Texas, United States. She began her music career at the age of 15, in 2005 by releasing her debut studio album, Walk On.
She first met Ryan Hurd in 2013 for a collaboration with Tim McGraw as they co-wrote his song Last Turn Home. However, the pair did not develop a romantic relationship until two years later. They tied the knot at The Cordelle in Nashville on March 24, 2018, and welcomed their son, Hayes, on March 23, 2020.
The singer came out as bisexual while celebrating Pride Month at an Arizona show on June 10, 2024. Maren Morris had filed for divorce from her husband Ryan on October 2, 2023, in Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences. As mentioned earlier, their divorce was finalized in January 2024.
According to their settlement agreement, both the parents will split their time with their 3½-year-old son evenly. The artist was also asked to pay Hurd $2,100 a month in child support.
In December 2023, Maren Morris made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show and talked about her experience with postpartum depression. She began by saying that she once had chopped off her long hair because she wanted to "cut all the trauma out of her hair." She mentioned that she had an emergency C-section:
"There were just a lot of things that didn't go to plan, but everyone's OK, everyone's healthy. But the other side of that, which I've been vocal about, is that it's a lot on the mom and you love your baby, and you're obsessed with your baby, but oh my God your body has been through a violent thing and of course you're going to be affected emotionally, hormonally by it afterward."
The singer has since shared several pictures with her son Hayes as she celebrates different occasions and holidays with him. For Halloween last year, Maren Morris shared photos of herself, Ryan, and Hayes while trick-or-treating.
The 34-year-old country music star also performed in Disneyland in October 2022 and posted images with her son. The star usually uploads her child's photo without revealing his face on social media, by either adding a heart on his face or only showing his back.
Morris is currently performing across North America for her 2024 RSVP Redux Tour, featuring special guest Betty Who.
