Selena Gomez learns to cook on her show Selena + Chef

During the lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Selena Gomez tested her cooking skills and learned to better her cooking skills. The singer-actor would interact and learn from the industry's best chefs. Selena + Chef evolved over the four seasons as the singer faced cuts, burns, and even fires in her kitchen.

The first four seasons featured celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Padma Lakshmi, Marcus Samuelsson, José Andrés, and Rachael Ray, among others. The first three seasons saw the Love On singer learning from her co-chefs over video call due to the pandemic restrictions.

However, the fourth season was filmed in Malibu. The location was a pleasant surprise for Disney fans as Selena filmed her show in the same beach house where Hannah Montana was primarily filmed.

Max shared a glimpse of the show on YouTube after Selena made Korean breakfast tacos with her grandparents in the kitchen with her. The Only Murders In The Building star is also on a video call with chef Roy Choi, who taught her how to make the dish.

She then calls her best friend, Taylor Swift, to show her the dish. Selena tells Taylor that she just wanted to show her the dish because she was proud of herself. Taylor Swift told Selena that she was proud too and had been waiting for the latter to become "obsessed with cooking."

Apart from these interactions, fans also love that at the end of each episode Selena + Chef makes a donation of $10,000 to the celebrity guest chef's preferred charity. According to Billboard, by the fourth season, the program had raised $400,000 for 26 non-profit organizations.

The Food Network also announced the four-part special, Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays, released in November 2023. It showed the singer learning to cook meals for the holiday season.
