Calvin Broadus Jr., professionally known as Snoop Dogg, is known as one of the pioneers of West Coast hip hop. The 52-year-old artist has also become a pop culture phenomenon due to his affinity for the medicinal and recreational drug, cannabis.

The rapper reportedly tweeted in 2013 that he smoked up to 81 blunts a day. In 2015, the Doggystyle hitmaker launched a line of edibles dubbed Leafs by Snoop. According to The Creators Project, the products from the launch included chews, chocolate bars, drops and gummies termed Dogg treats and drops, among others.

The chocolate bars and ‘gummies’ were draped in peaches and cream and fruity flavors. The celebrated rapper has since then launched other brands of edibles in collaboration with Tsumo Snacks in 2022 and in partnership with Atlas Global in 2023.

Snoop Dogg’s history with the cannabis product and his edible brands

Snoop Dogg has been an advocate for the legal use of the cannabis plant since his breakthrough as a rapper in the 90s.

He starred in the Netflix documentary, Grass is Greener, in 2019, alongside other musicians, influencers and attorneys to explore the influence of cannabis in society and its connection to music and race.

His first set of edibles was launched in 2015, under Leafs by Snoop in partnership with branding company, Pentagram. The product was only available in Colorado, the only US state that had legalized the use of the products then. In a statement announcing the launch, the hip-hop legend had said:

“It’s a true blessing that I can share the products I love so much with y’all today, From the flower, to the concentrates, and edibles - it’s all hand-picked by yours truly, so you know it’s the hottest product out there. It’s the real deal, and you gotta get out to Colorado to try it first!”

In 2022, Snoop’s cannabis-infused snacks, Snazzle Os, in partnership with Tsumo Snacks, an edibles startup company, were launched in onion and spicy onion flavors. Announcing the project, Snoop Dogg had said:

"I'm excited to partner with Tsumo Snacks to bring some new snack options to the fans. There are plenty of sweet edibles out there, so when I created this product I wanted to put the Dogg twist on it, which is why I'm bringing the savory THC-infused crispy onion-flavored rings to my home state of California."

In 2023, the American rapper worked with the Canadian cannabis producer, Atlas Global Brands, produces edibles, oils, cannabis flowers and concentrates, among others. Announcing the collaboration with the global cannabis company, the rapper said:

"I chose Atlas to represent and launch my new brands for their innovation and global reach. I am excited to work with their team to select my favorite strains for my brands and fans. You know they will be amazing because they will be personally approved by me.”

In 2023, Snoop’s Death Row Records also partnered with Hill Beverage Co. to release hemp-infused beverages termed, Do It Fluid. Ahead of the product launch, Snoop Dogg spoke with Los Angeles magazine:

"As we all keep living and realizing ways to keep ourselves healthy, I wanted alternatives to smoking that would still get my fans where they need to be.”

In 2024, Snoop Dogg launched a S.W.E.D dispensary store to sell limited-edition cannabis products honoring Tupac.

Snoop Dogg is a serial entrepreneur who has turned his love for cannabis into a lucrative business. Over the years, he has released a range of edibles infused with cannabis for lovers of the plant.
