Per Business Standard, X's owner, Elon Musk, has rolled out the feature to drive user engagement. The private likes feature was initially limited to premium subscribers. However, it is a pan-platform feature now, and the advantage of privacy might boost new users and enhance user retention owing to the hidden identity of people who like a post.

Moreover, the social media platform recently announced on June 3, 2024, that it will officially permit p**nographic content, given it is labeled as the same under its new policy. In an official statement of the policy, X mentioned:

“We believe that users should be able to create, distribute and consume material related to s*xual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed."

In its official statement, the social media website's official handle mentioned that the team believes in the "autonomy of adults" to create and engage in content that portrays their desires and experiences, inclusive of s*xuality-related content.
