Elliott Wilson says Kendrick Lamar called him a "rat" after he showed up uninvited to the "Not Like Us" music video shoot in Compton

American journalist and television producer Elliott Wilson recently appeared on the Bag Feul podcast on July 22, 2024, wherein he talked about his passive role in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud.

Elliott mentioned on the podcast that when he went to the shoot of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us music video, Lamar called him a rat. One of the podcast hosts Hynaken asked Elliott about his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar mentioning his name in the indirect back-and-forth that has to do with his feud with Drake.

The hip-hop journalist told the podcasters that he wasn't invited to the shoot of the music video and just "bum-rushed". He mentioned meeting Dave Free who asked Elliott to stay low during the shoot, however, he met Kendrick at the shoot who dapped him up and said:

"You're a rat"

Elliott mentioned that the energy with which Kendrick Lamar called him a "rat" to his face wasn't friendly.

Apart from Kendrick Lamar calling Elliott Wilson a rat, the journalist shared a similar instance from Drake's end during his appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast in June 2024.

The hip-hop journalist told the podcast that Drake sent him a rat emoji when he texted him to ask whether the rapper was planning to release Family Matters.

Elliott Wilson mentioned that Drake's paranoia and assumption of him being the rat who gave information about his family and record label OVO to Kendrick might stem from the fact that Elliott and Kendrick Lamar were in Venice at the same time.

Owing to Drizzy's assumption that Elliott Wilson was the insider who leaked information to Kendrick Lamar, the rapper unfollowed Elliott. Moreover, the hip-hop journalist mentioned in a UPROXX interview in May 2024 that the rapper had made it difficult for him to travel to Toronto.

Elliott stated that he got a call from "the OGs" and that he is not "really welcome in Toronto right now".

Clarifying his stance on the Toronto situation in his recent appearance on the Bag Feul podcast, Elliott talked about the monopoly that Drake has on Canadian hip-hop referring to the first OVO fest wherein he brought Eminem and Jay-Z.

The hip-hop journalist also stated that it is Drizzy's country and it should be respected.

Additionally, Elliott commented on not being able to visit Toronto and told the podcast:

"This is big. So yes, if I'm not cool with him... I don't feel comfortable going to Toronto."

Moreover, the hip-hop journalist also talked about not fearing for his safety but respecting Drake's territory. Elliott Wilson mentioned that some obsessive fans can be more dangerous than artists and stated:

"It could be fans nowadays. They thirsty and crazy. This Trumpian type era of n**gas. I don't want that cornball sh*t."

Apart from talking about his Toronto ban and Kendrick Lamar calling him a rat upfront, Elliott Wilson also talked about being disappointed in Charlamagne Tha God on the Bag Feul podcast.

The hip-hop journalist stated that he was unhappy with Charlamagne Tha God criticizing his name in the top five on Complex's Hip-Hop Media Power Ranking list.

Charlamagne reviewed the list and commented on how Elliott shouldn't be number five.
