Snoop Dogg has finally announced the release date for his 12th studio album, produced by Dr. Dre, titled Missionary, scheduled to drop on December 13, 2024.

Since June's Drink Champs interview, where Kurupt revealed the duo was producing a brand new album, Snoop and Dre have dropped the tracklist for Missionary as well as a full-length teaser trailer for the project.

Snoop even revealed the lead single for the album, which features a soft R&B collaboration with singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko, titled Gorgeous. The rapper performed the track last night during Fortnite's live event at Times Square in New York.

"Show you how to do it properly when you on my property / I'm a hot commodity, Boardwalk, Monopoly / A n---a safe, ran out of space, I'm a odyssey / Honestly, I'm that motherf--ker that you gotta see" - Snoop Dogg raps on 'Gorgeous'.

Today (November 05), Snoop confirmed that he and Dr. Dre would be guests on Drink Champs for a new episode, scheduled to air on November 16, 2024.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's upcoming Missionary album acts as the sequel to Doggystyle

Snoop and Dr. Dre first came together in 1993 for the former's debut studio and highly acclaimed album Doggystyle. Their upcoming collaboration will act as the sequel to this project, given Missionary's rollout and tracklisting suggest similar risque themes.

On October 31, the album's pre-listing on Apple Music went viral, showcasing 15 full-length records set to be included on Missionary, with featured guest appearances from Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Jelly Roll, and more.

Missionary's cover art appears to be a contraceptive, creatively designed to resemble the logo of "Trojan Condoms," but instead, the warrior used in the artwork is smoking, tying into Snoop's affinity to marijuana.

The complete tracklist for Snoop Dogg's highly anticipated album has been provided below:

  1. Fore Play (feat. BJ The Chicago Kid)

A day after Apple Music's tracklisting was revealed, Snoop Dogg and Death Row unveiled the first teaser trailer for Missionary on all social media platforms. The visuals feature two individuals attempting to preach Mormonism to a woman.

The trailer ends with Missionary's release date flashing on the screen before cutting to black. Snoop Dogg's caption confirmed the same, where he stated:

‘Missionary’ album drops 12.13. Produced by @drdre"

Breaking down Snoop Dogg and Jhené Aiko's lead single 'Gorgeous'

On November 1, 2024, Snoop Dogg unveiled the first single from Missionary as a collaboration with R&B singer Jhené Aiko titled Gorgeous.

The soft, yet impactful, bouncy production on this record was credited to Dr. Dre, who teamed up with producers Erik “Bluetooth” Griggs, Preach Bal4, and FredWreck. The record primarily revolves around themes of love, s*x, relationships, euphoria, excess, wealth, and success.

"I feel so f--kin' gorgeous / Don't this s--t look gorgeous? Under the skies, stars in your eyes / This is euphoric (Yeah, baby, come on) / We can be anything, this is everything / We do the wildest things 'til six in the mornin' / Yeah, b---h, this the feelin"

Jhené Aiko opens on Gorgeous delivering impressive harmonies and an extremely catchy melodic vocal performance, with lines that express themes of self-love and relationships.

The chorus acts as an extremely effective build-up for Snoop Dogg's classic West Coast energy.

(Verse 1)

"Last time I checked / I was the plug to your plug, I'm the f--king connect / What you expect? Negotiate and never settle for less / I never lose, always winnin' when I shuffle a deck"

Snoop Dogg opens on Gorgeous' first verse, highlighting his massive success with a double entendre that both references his weed dealers, or "plugs," and popular industry connections.

"Droppin' these jewels, where I'm from you better treasure your checks / You know the rules, plus one, she always come with a guest / She in the pool, best believe I plan on makin' her wet / Give her the blues, back up in this b---h and gettin' my reps"

Snoop then delves into themes of s*x, excess, and physical intimacy, with risque bars, coupled with an enticing flow showcasing his talent as a performing artist.

From speaking on his luxurious lifestyle and affinity for multiple partners, these lines are well centered into the overall theme of Missionary.

"Show you how to do it properly when you on my property / I'm a hot commodity, Boardwalk, Monopoly / A n---a safe, ran out of space, I'm a odyssey / Honestly, I'm that motherf--ker that you gotta see"

The verse ends with Snoop Dogg delivering braggadocious bars, calling himself a "hot commodity" in the music industry and the immense wealth he's created over almost a 30-year-long career.

The song then cuts to Jhené Aiko's hook, before introducing listeners to Snoop's second verse.

"Now, woah, woah, woah, woah / Now that's a lotta a-- in the passenger seat / Drop it low, low, low, low / Yeah, 'bout to hit a switch in this b---h, watch the '64 roll"

Snoop Dogg opens on Gorgeous' second verse, with lines that allude to his affinity for low-riding cars and beautiful women, ending the bar with a shoutout to the 1964 Chevrolet Impala.

"I dealt with the cons and the pros / I mix Crip s--t with the highs and the lows / Picture this, b---h, withdrawin' the bankroll / It's just some Dogg food for the soulless"

Snoop continues by highlighting how he represented Compton's streets throughout his career, simultaneously citing his experience dealing with the pros and cons of the music industry.

"Criminal psychology, this s--t just a part of me / Industrial robbery, a product of '93 (Yeah) / Follow me, follow me, I'm where the dollars be / My stock up, n---a, no return on this policy"

Snoop Dogg ends his verse with lines that find him asserting himself as a "product" of 1993's generation of hip-hop, while also inviting listeners to join and follow him, as he promises to lead them to success, wealth, and luxury.

Listeners are then re-introduced to Jhené Aiko's hook, which effectively closes out the lead single for Snoop's upcoming album.

Snoop Dogg's debut studio album, Doggystyle, was released on November 23, 1993, to massive critical and commercial acclaim. The project debuted at the top of Billboard's album charts after selling over 800,000 units in its first week.
