Rapper Rich Homie Quan recently died on September 5, 2024, at the age of 33. The Fulton County medical examiner's office verified his death, but they did not state why, a new claim on social media about the artist's work has created headlines.
Notably, a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Takeaslynn Gardner, who is active under the username @takeaslynn, listed the top five songs of Rich, which included a single titled Hit the Quan. However, it has been proved that Hit the Quan was not a song released by Rich. It was a single created by another rapper, iLoveMemphis.
Hit the Quan came out in July 2015 and the music video received a positive response online. The single also managed to reach the 15th spot on the US Billboard 200 and the top position on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Billboard).
The only link between Rich Homie Quan and the single is that it was a tribute to the late artist. The title refers to doing similar dance moves that Homie Quan did in the music video of the song Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh) which was released in April 2015.
According to the Dictionary, the phrase Hit the Quan was used in various social media memes. It is also common among people of all age groups and multiple videos became viral at the time of the single's release as people wanted to create their own versions of the song.
