With the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef over, a video clip of the duo seemingly fighting has gone viral across social media platforms. This comes after the latter released his K. Dot diss track, The Heart Part 6. Many assumed their feud had ended after the rappers released no diss tracks for the past few weeks. However, the video call segment going viral has reignited interest in their beef. Nonetheless, it is worth noting that the clip going viral is fake.
Facebook user Brandon Blvd Blvd was one of the many who took to social media to upload a video of Kendrick Lamar and Drake bickering. In the 11-second clip, Drake starts by saying, “You don’t remember the song that I did where I said.” Lamar then interrupts Drizzy to repeatedly shout “NO,” with the latter looking exasperated.
The Facebook user captioned the social media post, “Drake And Kendrick Try To Get Along On FaceTime.”
The clip was also uploaded on the official r/KendrickLamar subreddit. Platform user u/steamyso uploaded the same and wrote in the post, “If Kendrick and Drake were on FaceTime.”
Many might be under the assumption that the video call clip is real. However, it is not. Nonetheless, many took to the internet to react to the clip that was going viral. Some responses on Facebook read:
"Drake got annoyed, it's like tryina have a meaningful convo with a minor," said Forex Overwatch Sniper.
"Lol In my opinion there was never no real beef they planned this," said Celeste Angel.
"Drake a goofyy getting treated like he should," opined Tayyo Dinero Locco.
Over a thousand netizens commented on the viral clip. A few other reactions read:
"Lol this is funnyy cuz these are two dfferent FaceTimes but they spliced them together perfectly," said NewLight Watkins.
"Watching this beef is like watching your dad and your uncle fighting about who grills better at cookout," Joshua Pinto hilariously noted.
"The Gemini and The Scorpio I'll leave that up to you for what it means.Period," commented Haseebe Shk.
"Lmmfao, my ribs hurt," said Gene McClinton.
Kendrick Lamar and Drake did not get on a video call
Despite the video clip appearing real, it most certainly is not. Two separate clips of the singers were attached to make it seem like the duo were talking as their beef unfolded in the limelight.
Reddit users u/Qweerz and u/llikehashbrowns89 confirmed that the clip of Kendrick Lamar speaking was taken from a video where he was talking about Lil Waye. u/Qweerz said that Lamar was “drunk telling Lil Wayne not to retire from rap” in the portion where one could see him. Reiterating the same, Facebook user Keenan Barrot said:
“[Kendrick] got so upset that he got drunk went live and started playing hot boy to Certer 2 era Wayne songs and rapping to them to convince Wayne never to quick [quit] [sic]”
While addressing the Drake clip in the video call, Facebook user Stefon Taylor revealed that Champagne Papi was communicating with his father, Dennis, in the clip. Taylor said:
“I know the Drake one, he was talking to his dad about a song he made that sampled his dad’s music and his dad gave him a flat “no” that he never heard it.”
As no other established news outlet has reported on the viral video call clip, it is safe to say that it is not real. Considering the two rappers' celebrity status, it is likely that publications would have reported on it if the video were real. Hence, it is safe to say that Kendrick Lamar and Drake did not get on a video call with each other.
Kendrick Lamar and Drizzy got into a months-long feud after the latter and J. Cole claimed in their First Person Shooter track that the duo and K. Dot were the “big three” in the rap scene.
Lamar had opposing views, and in response, he appeared in Metro Boomin and Future’s song Like That to claim that he was the only noteworthy artist in the rap scene as opposed to the “big three.”
Since then, Kendrick and Drizzy have released numerous diss tracks about each other, including Not Like Us, Meet the Grahams, Family Matters, and The Heart Part 6, among others.
