Recently, a claim emerged online that rapper, singer, and actor Nelly’s son Cornell Haynes III, who’s nicknamed Tre, has gone missing. The rumor first appeared on YouTube on September 13 and was uploaded by a page called Celebrity TV.
“Police Raids Jay-Z's House Amidst Investigation into Missing Cornell Haynes: Rapper Nelly's Son,” the caption of the YT post read.
Later, TikTok user @jackcocchiarellashow also shared the same video on September 23, which immediately garnered traction and came in the wake of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent arrest.
However, the now-viral video claim has turned out to be fake. Nelly’s son isn’t missing and there isn’t any “credible evidence to support the claims of his disappearance,” as per DWB Films report on September 16. Likewise, the blog Amy-movie also clarified that the rumor is “unverified.” Moreover, there aren’t any confirmed reports of any raids at Jay-Z’s house.
Exploring the rumor of Nelly’s son Cornell’s disappearance
Last week, a video surfaced online alleging Nelly’s 25-year-old son Cornell “Tre” Haynes III had disappeared under mysterious circumstances. First posted by the Celebrity TV account on YouTube, it earned over 7,618 views at the time of writing. Meanwhile, the same video that went viral on TikTok gained over 37,300 reactions, 1,655 comments, and over 201,000 shares.
However, the claim has turned out to be false. According to the video, Tre reportedly went missing after he was seemingly confronted by Jay-Z over his daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The 4 minutes and 37 seconds long clip further claimed that in the aftermath of the alleged disappearance of Tre, Jay-Z’s house was raided by the police. But there are no verifiable reports on either of these claims.
It was also claimed that Nelly expressed “shocking disbelief” at Jay-Z’s involvement in his son’s reported disappearance as he and the Roc Nation founder have shared a long professional and personal friendship. However, there isn’t any substantiated proof to support the claim.
Additionally, the video alleged that other members of the hip-hop community have been lending support and solidarity for the Heartland rapper via social media, in the aftermath of his son’s reported disappearance. It is noteworthy that there are no such posts made by any rapper or others from the industry.
Thus, it can be concluded that Cornell Haynes III has not gone missing and the claim surrounding him is unfounded and fabricated, with no factual basis. Moreover, no major news outlet has also reported on the rumor, nor has Nelly or Jay-Z commented on the same.
