Foolio's death, charges against the accused, and other details explored
According to multiple sources, the Tampa Police reported that rapper Foolio was shot in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn at the intersection of McKinley Drive and Fowler Avenue at about 4:40 am on June 23, 2024.
Before getting shot, the rapper posted details of celebrating his birthday in Tampa followed by another update, stating that the police kicked him out of an Airbnb so he was moving his party to another location.
Out of the four suspects, Isaiah Chance Jr. and Rashad Murphy were identified as documented members of two different gangs "1200" and "ATK" and both gangs are rivals to the late rapper's gang "6 Block". The rivalry between 6 Block and 1200 and ATK has spanned over a decade.
During a press conference in July 2024, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said:
"Detectives believe that the ATK and the 1200 worked together to target Jones as part of an ongoing feud in Jacksonville."
Details of the investigation described Alicia Andrews and Isaiah Chance Jr as "lookouts" who followed Foolio around on June 22, 2024.
Thereafter, surveillance video showcased three shooters firing at the late rapper's vehicle in the parking lot after he traveled to the Home2Suites near USF on the morning of June 23, 2024.
According to a report by NBC News dated July 30, 2024, Chance and Andrews are charged with conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm, and premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm.
Additionally, Sean Gathright is charged with three counts of first-degree attempted premeditated murder with a firearm, two counts of premeditated murder with a firearm, as well as tampering with physical evidence.
Rashad Murphy is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree murder, and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Additionally, Davion Murphy is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
In a news conference in July 2024, State Attorney Susan Lopez mentioned that all five accused are facing life in the Florida State Prison, including the ones who didn't pull the trigger on Foolio.
Lopez added that even participating in the planning of a murder results in being held accountable for a person's death in Florida, which is what they intend to do in the late rapper's case.
