2024 has been a landmark year for hip-hop, with the rap community delivering multiple No.1 albums and singles. From Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us to Future and Metro Boomin's collaboration albums, We Don't Trust You and We Still Don't Trust You, several releases have dominated Billboard's music charts this year.
Other notable hip-hop events in 2024 include the high-profile "Kendrick Lamar vs Drake" rap feud, Childish Gambino's sixth and final studio album, and Future setting a new Billboard record after releasing three No.1 albums within six months.
A list of hip-hop albums and projects currently slated for a 2024 release
With two months left until 2025, several major label artists and rappers are gearing up to release highly anticipated albums, LPs, mixtapes, and projects, before the year ends.
1) I AM MUSIC (Playboi Carti) - Album Release
Playboi Carti has had a very commercially successful run this year, dominating the charts with his features and new singles, which include his No.1 hit, alongside Rich The Kid, Kanye West, and Ty Dolla $ign on Carnival, as well as his recently released record ALL RED.
Carti is also expected to follow up on 2020's Whole Lotta Red, with his highly anticipated third studio album I AM MUSIC, scheduled to be delivered to all major streaming services this year.
The hip-hop album will feature ALL RED as its lead single, which was released on September 13 through AWGE and Interscope Records. While the cover art, created by SEXISDEATH and Dawid, has been revealed, Carti has yet to confirm the official tracklist for I AM MUSIC.
2) Hurry Up Tomorrow (The Weeknd) - Album Release
The Weeknd is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which will mark the end of the singer's LP trilogy which began with the release of After Hours in 2020.
Hurry Up Tomorrow will be The Weeknd's follow-up to his 2022 album, Dawn FM. As part of the album's official rollout, the singer uploaded a cryptic trailer to his YouTube channel where he stated:
“In a place where the seasons never changed, where time ceased to exist. But therein lies the problem. Today has felt like an endless spin. I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath – screams in silence.”
The Weeknd has also delivered two lead singles for the hip-hop project, which includes Dancing In The Flames and his recent collaboration with Playboi Carti on the record titled TIMELESS. Both these records were delivered to fans alongside official music videos, uploaded to the singer's YouTube channel.
3) Don't Be Dumb (A$AP Rocky) - Album Release
A$AP Rocky's highly anticipated fourth studio album, Don't Be Dumb, after facing multiple delays, is currently still scheduled for a 2024 release. With teasers from the LP dating back to 2018, Rocky has been teasing this hip-hop project for several years resulting in leaked records and unfinished singles surfacing online.
A$AP Rocky's Don't Be Dumb will officially follow up on his critically acclaimed TESTING LP, delivered to streaming platforms on May 25, 2018, via A$AP Rocky Recordings LLC and RCA Records.
The hip-hop project was originally slated for an August drop but has since been pushed back, with the Harlem rapper yet to unveil the new release date, citing a possible "Fall release" during his exclusive interview with Billboard.
As part of the album's rollout, Rocky released a single titled Ruby Rosary back in August which featured J. Cole and production credits to The Alchemist. The complete tracklist for the Harlem rapper's Don't Be Dumb is yet to be officially confirmed.
4) LANA (SZA) - Album Release
SZA is gearing up for the release of her third studio album titled LANA, which is currently scheduled for a 2024 release.
The hip-hop-R&B project was officially announced back in December last year, with LANA initially being considered as the Deluxe edition for her sophomore studio album SOS.
SZA later confirmed LANA will be delivered to streaming platforms independently as the follow-up to her second studio album. The singer explained that her music getting leaked resulted in her decision to start the project from scratch, hence an official tracklist for the hip-hop LP is yet to be revealed.
5) Chromakopia (Tyler, the Creator) - Album Release
Tyler, the Creator is gearing up for the release of his eighth album Chromakopia, which is set to be delivered to all streaming services on October 28, 2024, via Columbia Records and Sony Music Entertainment.
Chromakopia officially follows up on the Deluxe edition of his sixth studio album, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale, which was released last year. Tyler is currently amid his new album rollout, releasing lead single NOID as well as teasing the LP's soundtrack St. Chroma (feat. Daniel Caesar).
"They wanna know where I close my eyes at, I keep my eyes wide / On God, this s--t cooked, brodie / Look, brodie (Noid), handshakes got me shooked, brodie / N----s want info about me? (Read a motherf--kin'—) / Read a book on me, ugh" - Tyler raps on 'NOID'
Although Tyler, the Creator is yet to unveil the complete tracklist for his upcoming album, based on the teasers dropped for Chromakopia, hip-hop artists like Frank Ocean, André 3000, Omar Apollo, Sexyy Red, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mustard, are expected to make an appearance on the album.
6) Eternal Atake 2 (Lil Uzi Vert) - Album Release
Lil Uzi Vert's fourth studio album, Eternal Atake 2, is expected to be released to all streaming services on November 01, 2024. The project will officially follow up on 2023's Pink Tape acting as the sequel to their 2020 sophomore studio album, Eternal Atake.
On October 24, 2024, Uzi unveiled the first official trailer for Eternal Atake 2 to all his social media accounts, as well as revealed the album's official cover art.
According the Apple Music, Lil Uzi Vert's fourth studio album will reportedly include a total of 17 full-length records. Although the complete tracklist remains under wraps, Lil Uzi Vert has teased the following records for Eternal Atake 2:

- EA2 (The Beginning of the Era)

7) More Chaos (Ken Carson) - Album Release
Ken Carson's fourth studio album, More Chaos, is set to be delivered to streaming platforms on October 31, 2024. The project will serve as the second installment to his 2023 LP A Great Chaos.
Following the release of A Great Chaos Deluxe, released on July 05, 2024, Carson would take to social media to reveal that More Chaos would be a completely separate album in itself.
With less than a week left before the project's release, the rapper is yet to reveal the official tracklist for his fourth studio album.
8) 11 and STILL PRAYING (Westside Gunn) - Multiple Album Release
Westside Gunn is preparing for a major album drop next week, starting with 11, which is also being referred to as Hitler Wears Hermes 11, given the project serves as the 10th installment to his Hitler Wears Hermes series.
This project will act as his first major release for 2024 and his fifteenth official mixtape, officially following Gunn's 2023 LP And Then You Pray For Me. The rapper recently took to social media to reveal the artwork and release date for 11, when he stated:
"You know what season it is, I'm back!!!!!!! I'm dropping 2X next week f--k it. Griselda Records Presents …..10/31"
In the same post, Westside Gunn confirmed that 11 would be followed with the release of his sixteenth mixtape, titled STILL PRAYING, a day later on November 01, 2024.
Gunn took to social media to reveal that he created STILL PRAYING during the promotion of FLYGOD is an Awesome God III when he stated:
"STILL PRAYING! I came here to mix/master my album FLYGOD IS AN AWESOME GOD 3 & was waiting for my files, so l had played some beats & caught a vibe told him load it & made a joint, another joint, another joint & now a Day later I made a new project"
9) Soul Burger (Ab-Soul) - Album Release
On November 08, 2024, Ab-Soul's sixth studio album, Soul Burger, is expected to be delivered to streaming platforms as an homage to his best friend and fellow TDE Affiliate Doe Burger, who passed away in 2021.
"I just been trying to channel him and my best way of doing that is through the music. And hence the title, it’s the fusion of me and him. We was literally Huey and Riley from The Boondocks. To where this album is not me – it’s Soul Burger. That’s not me. It’s like a new artist." - Ab explained.
Ab-Soul's upcoming album will arrive less than two years after the release of Herbert, which featured guest appearances from Zacari, Joey Bada$$, Jhené Aiko, Russ, and more. Soul Burger was supported by the release of the following two singles:

10) The Crossroads (Cordae) - Album Release
Grammy-nominated rapper Cordae Amari Brooks is gearing up for the release of his third studio album and fourth overall LP, The Crossroads, which is expected to be delivered to streaming services on November 15, 2024.
On October 24, Cordae fans got their first official look into the project after releasing the trailer for The Crossroads. The visuals were presented and shot to resemble an old-school drama, with a description that confirmed pre-save links for the project were currently available.
Although the rapper has yet to unveil the complete tracklist for The Crossroads, several lead singles were released as part of the album's official rollout. The complete list of records released for Cordae's upcoming LP has been provided below:

11) Here For A Reason (Quando Rondo) - Album Release
Quando Rondo is gearing up for the release of his 2024 sophomore album Here For A Reason on November 15, 2024, following up on his Here For A Reason: In The Darkest Time EP which was uploaded to streaming platforms in August.
Rondo is currently gaining significant traction after the release of a new single titled Life Goes On, whose production is being compared to Lil Durk's Grammy-winning record All My Life (feat. J. Cole).
Quando's upcoming album will host 17 full-length records as part of its tracklist, and will include the following five records from his Here For A Reason: In The Darkest Time EP:

12) Mm..Food (20th Anniversary Edition) (MF Doom) - Album Release
MF Doom's classic 2004 fifth hip-hop album, Mm...Food is getting its 20th Anniversary re-release on November 15, 2024. The project will be distributed to streaming services via Rhymesayers Entertainment.
As part of the album's reissue, MF Doom's team will be including unreleased interview clips of the late rapper speaking on the creation of Mm...Food and more, as well as "rare remixes" from collaborators like Madlib, Jake One, and Athmosphere's Ant.
