With 2025 just around the corner, six months have passed since Kendrick Lamar and Drake went head-to-head in what many refer to as one of hip-hop's most historic rap battles.
The feud began on March 22, after Kendrick Lamar's featured performance on Metro Boomin and Future's No.1 record Like That. On the record, he called out Drake and J. Cole for the "Big 3" claims made on First Person Shooter, included on Drizzy's 2023 For All The Dogs album.
The tension peaked in May when both MCs dropped a combined total of six diss tracks over three days, captivating the hip-hop community and music industry.
Bars from these diss tracks went viral in the following weeks, driven by explosive allegations that surfaced during the battle. Among the most shocking claims were rumors of Drake secretly fathering a daughter and accusations of Kendrick being abusive toward his partner, Whitney Alford.
Famous hip-hop artists who weighed in on the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake rap beef
While the virality of the diss tracks, on social media, has died down over the past few months, some of the most popular rappers within the hip-hop community continue to reference and weigh in on the impact of Drizzy and K-Dot's beef.
Several rappers seemingly picked sides, with Ab-Soul outrightly stating that Kendrick Lamar had won the beef, while Drake's frequent collaborator Sexyy Red highlighted the OVO CEO as the winner. Below are 6 hip-hop artists who commented on the 2024 rap beef.
1. Sexyy Red
During Sexyy Red's appearance on Ryanwitdasauce's humorous dating game, uploaded to his YouTube channel in June, the rapper was questioned on her stance regarding the 2024 rap beef. She chose Drake as the winner, explaining:
"My BD [won], duh. We the winning team. If you on my team, you winning automatically."
2. André 3000
During an August interview with Crack magazine, André 3000 weighed in on the 2024 rap beef, citing his appreciation for Kendrick Lamar shouting him out during his verse on Like That.
"Lost too many soldiers not to play it safe / If he walk around with that stick, it ain't André 3K / Think I won't drop the location? I still got PTSD / Motherf--k the big three, n---a, it's just big me" - Kendrick Lamar raps on 'Like That'.
While the 49-year-old rapper seemed "happy to get a shoutout," he did continue by citing the negative impact a rap battle like Kendrick Lamar and Drake's rap beef can have on those closely related to both parties.
"It’s not just [artists] rapping now. You got people with 100 employees. You have livelihoods, empires, companies, deals.. all of it can be [jeopardized]. If you don’t have anything to lose, sure, go for it. But if I already made it, I’m not sure it’s even worth it anymore." - André 3000 stated.
3. Tech N9ne
In July, Kansas City rap icon Tech N9ne offered a neutral response on the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake feud, speaking with YouTuber Anthony Ray.
Tech voiced concerns for both K-Dot and Drizzy's safety, referencing a recent incident where Rick Ross was attacked in Canada as a cautionary example of how tensions can spiral.
"This is not Jay-Z and f--kin' Nas. We are f--kin' gang related, my n---a. You can not control the fan foolery or entourage and it's happening. It just happened with Rick Ross in Canada." - Ab-Soul stated.
He added that while he respects Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us and its cultural impact on hip-hop, he didn't wish to see anybody get fatally hurt, explaining:
"I don't have popcorn for the state of hip-hop right now. I don't enjoy seeing n----s fighting each other. I've always felt like this. I don't want nobody to die. I don't want Drake to die when he comes to f--kin' L.A. next time."
4. Skepta
Last week, Skepta sat down for an exclusive interview with Apple Music's Ebro to discuss his return to music, the upcoming collaboration album with Project Pat, and provided his opinion on the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef.
On November 07, the UK hip-hop star argued that the 2024 rap feud did more harm to the culture than good, stating:
"It's hurting what we all built this whole time. If you don't like each other, just link up and speak, sort...Don't speak to each other. But all this stuff you are saying to each other, for the rest of everyone who is waiting in line for the doors that you've kicked open. These doors are shutting on us right now. We're looking crazy out here."
5. Ab-Soul
Back in July, Ab-Soul took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef, where he confirms Dot's win while simultaneously alluding to Drizzy's ability to redeem himself.
"If Drake is the MC I imagine he can be. Redemption is not off the table. But b4 my rant gets out of context. He could never f**k wit da Gang'Nem on sum rap s**t. That was Never a question." - Ab-Soul tweeted.
6. Childish Gambino
During Childish Gambino's rollout for his sixth and final studio album under his artist moniker, the rapper reportedly took to Instagram Live to promote his Bando Stone & The New World LP.
During his stream, he explained why he believed Kendrick Lamar and Drake's rap beef was fueled by "negativity," saying:
"Everything that everybody can get in on is usually f--ked up. Even this year, the most fun we had was from a fight. From a rap beef, which I enjoyed every minute of. It was very fun, but still kinda negative in a certain light I guess."
Other rappers and popular hip-hop internet personalities who've weighed in on Kendrick Lamar and Drake's rap beef include Drink Champs host N.O.R.E., Roddy Ricch, Ski Mask The Slump God, and Soulja Boy.
