Green Day's iconic American Idiot album turns 20 on September 21, 2024. In celebration of the album's 20th anniversary, the band is releasing a 20th anniversary deluxe edition of the album. The band announced said edition, titled American Idiot (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), on their official Instagram page on August 9, 2024, with the announcement stating:
"In the summer of 2004, Green Day entered the studio with Rob Cavallo to create American Idiot, uncertain of what the future held. They were audacious, rebellious, and stressed out by the state of the country at the time."
The announcement continues:
"American Idiot was crafted as a response to the daily bombardment of media that spreads it far and wide, making us desensitized and weary -filled with themes that still ring true today, even 20 years later."
The announcement continues:
"When they made this record, they couldn’t foresee the impact that was to come—23 million copies sold, 6x platinum, multiple GRAMMYs, a Broadway musical, and so much more. The album turns a whole 20 years old this year, and you know they’ve cracked open the vaults for a very special 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition that comes out on October 25th."
Releasing on October 25, the anniversary edition album is currently available from the band's official website. The album in Vinyl is priced at $39.98 for Color 2 LP and $124.98 for the One Step edition. In CD, the album is priced at $69.98. Finally, the super deluxe box set is priced at $199.98.
