Rapper Lil Durk, already facing murder-for-hire charges in Los Angeles, has recently been accused of being involved in the shooting of alleged gang leader Stephon Mack in January 2022.

Mack was shot to death by two gunmen in January 2022 while leaving the Youth Peace Center of Roseland. As per Newsweek, he was the gang leader of the Gangster Disciples' faction based out of Smashville.

According to the outlet, a warrant application unsealed at the US District Court in Chicago on Wednesday, December 11, accused Durk of being connected to the 2022 shooting of Stephon Mack in Chicago. The warrant application, which a federal agent originally filed in April 2023, said:

"Lil Durk was and still is offering money for people to kill those responsible for his brother's murder, and more specifically, offering to pay money for any Gangster Disciple that is killed."

Durk's brother, Dontay Banks (stage name DThong), was shot outside Club O in Chicago in 2021. The warrant application alleged that the Smashville faction of the Gangster Disciples killed Banks. It also claimed Mack was associated with another faction with ties to the place. Lil Durk has not been charged with Mack's shooting.

The new allegations against Durk come after the Chicago rapper was taken to federal custody in October 2024 on murder-for-hire charges against fellow rapper Quando Rondo.

On January 7, 2022, alleged Gangster Disciples leader Stephon Mack was shot at West 111th Street in the Roseland neighborhood while leaving the Youth Peace Center.

Shortly after his murder, Lil Durk posted a cryptic Instagram story, allegedly celebrating his death. The rapper shared an image of OTF, seemingly a reference to the killing of the mother of rapper OTF Jam's child. He also wrote a caption that said:

"4dthad ahhh haaaa."

According to Newsweek, federal investigators have reviewed phone records, social media posts, and firearms purchases to further investigate Durk's alleged connection to Mack's death. They have also referred to Durk's song, Ahhh Ha, released a month after Mack's death.

In 2023, Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell were indicted on murder-for-hire charges in relation to Stephon Mack's death. According to federal investigators, they found a message on Montgomery-Wilson's phone saying:

"Did durk gave (sic) u that money."

According to the warrant application unsealed on December 11, Lil Durk was allegedly involved in Mock's death to take revenge for his brother, Dontay Banks' death. Banks was shot outside Club O in Chicago in June 2021. The application alleges that the gang Gangster Disciples was behind Banks' shooting, but Mack headed another faction based out of Smashville.

For those uninformed, The Gangster Disciples (GD) refers to a street and prison gang founded by Larry Hoover and David Barksdale in Chicago, Illinois, in 1968. The gang was initially named Black Gangster Disciple Nation (BGDN).

However, the BGDN split into two factions over time, the Gangster Disciples and the Black Disciples. According to the FBI's statements in the warrant application, Stephon Mack headed the Gangster Disciples.

Lil Durk is in custody for murder-for-hire charges against fellow rapper Quando Rondo

On October 24, 2024, rapper Lil Durk was taken into custody on murder-for-hire charges. His arrest came after five members of his label Only The Family (OTF) were arrested on murder-for-hire and murder-for-conspiracy charges in relation to the 2022 murder of rapper Quando Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, in Los Angeles.

The arrested OTF members included Kavon London Grant (aka Vonnie), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (aka DeDe), David Brian Lindsey (aka Browneyez), Asa Houston (aka Boogie), and Keith Jones (aka Flacka). According to XXL, an unnamed member of the OTF also allegedly offered "lucrative music opportunities" to anyone who would kill Quando Rondo.

Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, was killed in a shooting in Los Angeles in August 2022. Robinson was in his car with Quando Rondo and his sister. While the other two were spared, Robinson was shot multiple times and died.

According to the feds, the shooting was originally planned to kill Quando Rondo. It was allegedly orchestrated as a revenge plan for the death of Lil Durk's associate, King Von, in Atlanta in 2020. An associate of Rondo allegedly shot Von.

Lil Durk currently remains in custody and awaits trial. The new charges against him regarding the death of Stephon Mack will also be further discussed during his hearing.
