Playboi Carti released his single 2024's music video on YouTube on December 14, 2023. It was a song from his long-awaited unnamed third studio album. However, it was reportedly deleted from the platform on July 17, 2024, due to a copyright strike by Believe Music.

While the video was soon restored on the platform, fans reacted heavily after it was taken down for a brief time. Many netizens stated that it was a sign of further album delays, as exemplified by the X post given below:

"He's gonna re release it and call it 2027 and drop the album then"
"How many times am I going to fall for a Carti rollout," one netizen exclaimed.
"Oh not Believe Music, they are known to claim wrong copyright of songs on purpose," another X user wrote.
"Carti the first rapper to unrelease a song after promising fans new music for years," one fan stated.

Other fans expressed dismay and frustration at the incident, with a few reactions blaming Kanye West's use of a sample called Jacob's Ladder:

"I'm blaming Kanye for this. He probably did not ask for permission to use that sample," a person responded.
"Nah im convinced he never dropping again," another netizen commented.
"I know for a fact that song made Jacob's Ladder's streams go crazy cause that's how I listen to that song myself now. If it has to do with that sample that's nuts," another fan responded.

As mentioned above, 2024 samples the song Jacob's Ladder by Yeo which was first uploaded on SoundCloud in 2012. Yeo himself welcomed the attention brought on by the release of the Carti song, with the artist stating in the description of the track:

Aside from his third studio album, Playboi Carti recently collaborated with Kanye West on the album Vultures 1, alongside Quavo, Travis Scott, and more. Released on February 10, 2024, the album was highly successful in the commercial chart. However, the major promoters such as Live Nation and AEG reportedly refused to work with Ye due to his antisemitic remarks.

The album topped several charts and was certified gold and silver in New Zealand and Denmark respectively. The album is now set to have a sequel, with Vultures 2 slated to be released soon. Playboi Carti is also likely to be involved with the Vultures world tour, which is expected to run from late 2024 to 2025.
