"I’m at the tail end of working on this album" — J. Cole mentioned while announcing his upcoming album

In February 2023, J. Cole announced his upcoming album The Fall Off at the "It's All A Blur-Big as the What?" tour alongside Drake. The rapper told fans,

"Right now, I’m at the tail end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time. It’s called The Fall Off.”

In November 2023, talking to Yachty on A Safe Place podcast, the rapper explained his theory behind calling his album The Fall Off. He stated a conversation he had with himself when he felt like he was losing his edge inspired the upcoming album's name.

J. Cole mentioned,

“I had a real talk with myself… ‘You made it to where you wanted to make it to. Do you wanna keep going or do you just want to chill and go start a family? Do you want to retire right now?'”

The recent instance isn't the first time the rapper was seen writing outside. In early May, a TikTok user @2kold.fr, uploaded a video showcasing how she ran into J. Cole, and she later claimed that she had a thirty-minute conversation with him concerning Kendrick Lamar and Drake's beef.

While J. Cole has teased his upcoming album on his Might Delete vlog series multiple times, the rapper has released no details of its release date, tracks, or collaborative artists.

Apart from being in the news for The Fall Off, the rapper also made headlines in April 2024 for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar at the Dreamville Festival for the track 7 Minute Drill.
