American rapper Clifford Joseph Harris aka T.I. recently made an appearance on The Breakfast Club airing on Power 105.1 FM. In the interview dated May 28, 2024, T.I. commented on the ongoing RICO trial against Young Thug and his YSL collective.

The Live Your Life rapper stated that he doesn't think the prosecution has been successfully able to prove Young Thug's deliberate participation in an active street gang. Giving his perspective on the outcome of the RICO charges against Young Thug, T.I mentioned:

“He’s coming home. I don’t think that the prosecution has successfully proven the case of him knowingly and willingly participating in an active street gang. I just don’t see it."

According to Billboard, Young Thug was arrested on May 9, 2022, along with 27 alleged gang members on a 56-count indictment. Thug was charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, along with accusations of murder, robbery, theft, gun possession, participation in violent street activities, and other alleged criminal activities around Atlanta since 2012.

"I just don’t think that the grounds of their case have been presented properly"— T.I. comments on Young Thug's RICO trial

Almost two years into his arrest, Young Thug has maintained the "not guilty" stance on all charges and his requests for release on bond have been denied multiple times. According to Atlanta News First, there were more than 700 witnesses on the prosecutor's list for Thug's trial which were reduced to 400 and there are still over 150 witnesses yet to testify.

Talking to The Breakfast Club, T.I. mentioned that he would look after Young Thug when he gets released from jail. The No Mediocre rapper stated that Thug will be "just fine" and that all he's "gotta do is touch down". Commenting on the RICO charges and proceeding against Young Thug, T.I said:

“I don’t think that the witnesses that they’ve called thus far have proven what they’ve said that they would prove. I just don’t think that the grounds of that case have been presented properly."

This is not the first time T.I. has taken Thug's side in the ongoing proceedings against him. In February 2023, the Bring Em Out rapper made an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast and talked about how this was a test for Young Thug. T.I. shared:

"And, he just...he a real good dude, bro. I don't think—everything that's goin' around, I think it's a test. It's a test, and it's gon' become his testimony. All he gotta do is continue to stand tall and stay solid, and I believe God gon' work everything out."

Talking to the Drink Champs podcast, T.I. also mentioned that Young Thug is more grateful for his support than artists on Thug's label YSL Records.

According to Atlanta News First, 28 people were originally arrested during a sweeping indictment that took place in May 2022, however, six of them are currently undergoing trial. These include Young Thug, Rodalius Ryan aka Lil Rod, Marquavius Huey aka Qua, Shannon Stillwell aka SB, and Quamarvious Nichols.

In the last development of the trial, on April 2024, the presiding judge of the trial- Judge Glanville refused Young Thug's motion to have the lead prosecutor Adriane Love taken off the YSL RICO trial. Additionally, according to HipHop DX, Birdman, YFN Lucci, and Lil Wayne can be called to testify in the case.
