"We talk, but we never really was on some bestie s**t" — Ice Spice on her relationship with Drake

During the interview, Ice Spice recalled the time when her track Munch had only just dropped in August 2022, and Drake ended up flying her and her team to Toronto on a private jet to see the OVO Fest.

At the time, the 24-year-old could not believe that Drizzy was flying her out. She told the publication:

"When we saw him, I was like, ‘Nah, this is crazy.’ He’s just casually there. There’s mad random people around, and he’s just, like, blending in somehow."

Spice, spotted by multiple fans attending the fest, had previously recounted her meetup with Drizzy during an interview with Spotify's Rap Caviar at the time. The rapper told the streaming service:

"Linking up with him was so cool. Like, he’s mad nice, and respectful. We went to OVO Fest. It was exciting because it was like his first time performing in Toronto, I think in like a couple of years. So it was just a movie, everybody was excited."

During the interview, Spice called Drizzy an inspiration and hoped to collaborate with the rapper one day. Regarding her relationship with the God's Plan hitmaker, Spice told the publication:

The star also shared her thoughts on the recent back-and-forth diss track battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which had the entire hip-hop industry in a chokehold for a long time. Despite her relationship with Drizzy, Spice remained neutral on the topic. Isis Naija Gaston, known professionally as Ice Spice, told The Rolling Stone:

"I’m a music lover. So, I appreciate the sport of it — I think it’s really cool."

However, despite the current smooth sailing, Spice and Drizzy's relationship has allegedly gone through a few hiccups. In BackOutsideBoyz, a track from Drake and 21 Savage's collaborative album from November 2022, Drizzy seemingly dissed Spice when he rapped:

"She a 10 tryna rap, it’s good on mute."

Ice Spice took to X right after the track dropped and seemingly responded to Drake by stating, "at least ima 10 🤷‍♀️😂".

In February 2023, Drizzy even unfollowed Spice on Instagram, only to re-follow her later. However, Spice later clarified that there were no bad feelings between the two. In a January 2023 interview with The New York Times, Spice noted that she and Drizzy were "cool." She stated:

"We spoke after that a couple times and we’re good. There’s no beef."

Elsewhere, Drake expressed his frustration at AI-generated covers of tracks featuring his voice after coming across an AI-generated cover of Ice Spice's hit track Munch performed with his voice. The rapper took to Instagram on April 14, 2024, to post a story of a post about the track and wrote that this was "the last straw."
