Sabrina Carpenter came to the defense of producer Jack Antonoff in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone on June 17, 2024, responding to the criticisms faced by the producer for his works. Antonoff is often criticized by fans for seemingly ruining their favorite artists' work with his monotonous producing.

The backlash seemingly increased with the released of Taylor Swift's recent album The Tortured Poets Department. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Sabrina Carpenter rebutted these criticisms and shared:

"F**k them all. F**k them all. I think he’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met."

The singer further went on to state that Antonoff has been able to work on collaborations throughout his career due to sheer talent:

"When he’s in a room, he can literally touch every instrument in the room and make it sound magical. He also works very fast, which I really appreciate because I work very fast."

The singer was being interviewed by the magazine regarding her upcoming studio album. She also talked about spending time with Taylor Swift and more. Carpenter and Antonoff are close collaborators, with the two having worked together for her latest single Please Please Please and her upcoming album Sweet N' Sweet.

Jack Antonoff's work on the Taylor Swift album has been criticized by many as bland and repetitive, with critics viewing it unfavorably to Aaron Dessner's production on the album.

More on Sabrina Carpenter and Jack Antonoff camaraderie

Jack Antonoff and Sabrina Carpenter first met in a comedy club in New York City back in 2022, with the two subsequently becoming friends in the following years. The duo first worked together as part of Taylor Swift's Eras album and tour, with the former being a producer and the latter as an opening singer on the tour.

Antonoff had also praised Sabrina Carpenter before in an interview with Rolling Stone. Quoted in the Carpenter interview, focusing on the Please Please Please, he shared:

"The way she puts things, I’m immediately right there with her. And [for] anyone who’s got to see her live, let alone record her, she’s an unbelievable singer. When you’re in the presence of that kind of voice, all you want to do is capture it. There’s like an Olivia Newton [John] feeling, there’s a Dolly feeling, there’s an incredibly super modern pop feeling."

The producer continued to elaborate:

"The little vocal runs she does are so bizarre and unique—they’re doing this really odd, classic, almost yodel-y country thing. She’s becoming one of the biggest young pop stars, and that song is such a statement of expressing yourself, not just lyrically, but sonically."

The recent single of Carpenter has so far charted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is the second single from her forthcoming studio album. The single before it was Espresso which was the lead single of the album.

Sabrina Carpenter last released a record EP back in 2023. The singer released the Julien Bunneta and John Ryan produced Fruitcake EP on November 17, 2023. The EP was followed by her collaboration with Girl in Red on the single You Need Me Now? from the latter's album I'm Doing It Again Baby!
