Rapper Safaree Samuels made an appearance on the We in Miami podcast earlier this week. He candidly discussed his breakup with Nicki Minaj, with whom he had a much-publicized relationship from 2000 to 2014. Samuels said it was the “biggest struggle” he had to overcome in his life.

Following his comments, the rapper's ex-wife, Erica Mena, took to Instagram stories on July 10, 2024, to call him out for being a "deadbeat dad." The actress, model, and singer, slammed her former husband for not seeing his children for "months at a time" by choice.

“You already go months at a time in not seeing these babies by choice, you went two months this last go round. You finally pop out at Legend’s bday — empty-handed and NEVER offering to pay half for anything like always,” Erica claimed.

She also called out Safaree for visiting them once every few months for a quick "photo opportunity," and then left. She also added that he didn't see his children very often, despite staying 30 minutes away.
