In 2017, when Ariana Grande was in Europe for her Dangerous Woman world tour, the singer-songwriter became a part of a tragic incident. Shortly after she had finished her set in her show at the Manchester Arena on May 22, a bomb exploded at the venue, taking the lives of 22 concert-goers and injuring over 100.

While the Positions singer was unharmed in the incident, it reportedly shook her mentally, leading her to postpone the rest of her world tour until she was able to perform again.

Ari also wanted to do anything on her part to make things better for the survivors of the attack and the families of those who didn't make it. The outcome of that sentiment was One Love Manchester - a benefit concert hosted on June 4, 2017, which was a fundraiser for the sufferers of the tragic attack, becoming Grande's ultimate tribute to the bombing victims.

Ariana Grande put together One Love Manchester in less than 2 weeks of the Manchester bombing

With the help of her manager, Scooter Braun, Ariana Grande put together a benefit concert in Manchester in less than two weeks of the bombing. One Love Manchester wasn't a solo concert either; several other celebrity friends of Grande joined her on stage in an attempt to support her effort.

These included Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Mac Miller, Coldplay, Victoria Monét, Imogen Heap and others.

The tickets to the concert - which was being held in the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Stadium - were sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale, as BBC reported 50,000 people having purchased them. Ariana Grande also held over 14,000 tickets for the attendees of her last concert, who could visit free of cost.

Beyond the stadium, One Love Manchester was streamed live across many global platforms like ABC, BBC, Twitter, YouTube, iHeartRadio and more. With the tickets and the donations combined, it raised over $24 million in funds, making One Love Manchester a success.

Grande included a silent tribute to victims of the Manchester bombing in her Sweetener album

While Ariana Grande's effort in putting together the benefit concert of One Love Manchester turned out to be fruitful, she wasn't done paying tribute to the victims of the tragic event that took place in her show.

A year after the bombing, when Grande released her fourth studio album - Sweetener - it had two tributes for those who had suffered in the brutal attack. The first one was the album's lead single - No Tears Left to Cry - which was written in thoughts of the 22 concert-goers who lost their lives in the bombing.

The second is Get Well Soon, which was released as the final track of the album. Ari, who co-wrote this track with Pharrell Williams, intentionally finished it with 40 seconds of silence.

The silence - which was devoted to the bombing victims - brought the track's length to five minutes and 22 seconds to commemorate the date of the bombing, 5/22.

While giving British Vogue a preview of her upcoming album in 2018, the Side to Side singer opened up about the effect the bombing had on her mental health:

"It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it's a real thing."

Ariana Grande went on to say that she didn't know if she would ever be able to talk about the incident without crying.

Four years later, on the anniversary of the Manchester bombing in May 2021, Grande paid yet another tribute in her Instagram story:

“Although grief is ever-present and our relationship to it is constantly evolving and expressing itself in different ways every day, year round. …. I know that this anniversary will never be an easy one."

The Grammy-winner went on to say:

"Please know that I am thinking of you today. Manchester, my heart is with you today and always.”

Ariana Grande's message was subsequently followed by a heart filled with 22 bees - symbolic of the city - as a tribute to the lives lost in the bombing. The name of each victim was also written at the bottom.
