Eminem, also known as Marshall Bruce Mathers III, recently released a new single Houdini on May 31, 2024. The track will be part of the rapper's upcoming 12th album titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). While the release date of the new album is not confirmed, it is arriving this year.

The single is trending in the headlines for having references to unique personalities, including escape artist Harry Houdini. The stunt performer passed away in Detroit on October 31, 1926, from appendicitis and was 52 years old at the time of death.

The track also includes references to the shooting incident of Megan Thee Stallion along with other topics such as RuPaul calling his kids "brats." Well-known faces from the hip-hop industry have been featured in the music video such as 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg.

Eminem's new single is named after Harry Houdini: Links and other details explained

Eminem's new track takes inspiration from the late magician, who gained fame for his work in stunts and magical acts. While he was born in Budapest, Hungary, Harry's family arrived at Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1878.

Houdini spent his last days in Detroit and continued to perform at the same time. CBS News stated that following his performance at the Garrick Theater, he collapsed and had a temperature of almost 104 degrees. He collapsed after completing his first act and for another time after completion of the act.

They immediately transported the stunt performer to the Grace Hospital. A few tests revealed that he had appendicitis and peritonitis, along with a ruptured appendix, leading to his sudden demise.

Notably, the cover art for Marshall's Houdini was revealed on May 30, 2024. He wrote below the post:

"…and for my last trick! 5.31.24 Link in bio."

Eminem.Pro states that the art resembled the cover of a book titled The Last Greatest Magician in the World: Howard Thurston Vs. Houdini & the Battles of the American Wizards. However, the singer has neither confirmed nor denied anything until now.

Eminem and Dr. Dre are collaborating another time for the new album

The rapper announced The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) on April 25, 2024, through Instagram with a video. Dr. Dre will also join Eminem for the album, who first revealed about the album while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March this year.

Dr. Dre said in the show that Marshall was working on his upcoming project, adding that it would come out this year.

"And I actually talked to him and he said it okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I've got sings on it and it's fire. I'm actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow."

The album's title was not revealed at the time and Dre said he had no idea what Eminem was exactly planning for the album.

A few days before the release of his new single, Marshall shared a post on X where he added a text message that was covered at first and eventually revealed the words that read, "… and for my last trick!" This led to speculations among his fans that the album was possibly arriving before the end of May. For now, the release date of the album remains unknown.
