A look at Usher's 2023 Rendez-Vous à Paris residency amidst the upcoming concert film
The upcoming concert film is based around Usher's 2023 Rendez-Vous à Paris residency. The 13-day residency concerts were hosted at the La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The eight-time Grammy-winning singer began the concerts on September 24.
The headlining shows were lined with electrifying performances on all-time hits such as My Boo, Yeah!, Love In This Club, OMG, Superstar, and more. Following consecutive shows at the La Seine Musicale, Usher wrapped up the residency on October 5, 2023.
The 2023 residency was one of the most successful outings for the singer and was sold out on most days. It featured the singer donning numerous bold and classy outfits for each set. The shows also made the best use of modern lighting and visual effects for a heart-enticing concert experience.
Coinciding with the Paris Fashion Week, the concerts were attended by major industry names, including Dwyane Wade, Cher, Pharrell Williams, and Gabrielle Union.
The concert film will offer an intimate experience with the singer's music to those who couldn't attend the 2023 residency. However, those who attended the concerts will witness Usher's performances from a fresh and engaging perspective.
The trailer of the concert film highlighting the best moments of the residency concerts has yet to be revealed. The singer, however, shared a sneak peek of the theatrical on YouTube this Tuesday, July 30. The 68-second video highlights a performance on the 2010 hit, OMG, and has received over 9.6k views.
Anthony Mandler has directed the Rendezvous in Paris concert film. It is co-produced by Usher Raymond, Mandler, and Ron Laffitte. The film will be released under AMC Theatres Distribution, with Sony Music Vision holding the rights to all non-theatrical engagements.
The release of the Rendezvous in Paris concert film overlaps with a September 12 concert for Usher's upcoming Past Present Future tour. As of writing, the singer has not confirmed if he will be joining the first screening of his film.
