Texas attorney Tony Buzbee claimed that his kids were harassed as rapper Jay-Z called him a "fraud". Buzbee is currently married to Frances Moody Buzbee and shares four kids with his ex-wife Zoe Benson. Buzbee is representing over 150 alleged victims with accusations against the hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.
On Sunday, December 8, Tony Buzbee accused hip-hop mogul Jay-Z of allegedly r*ping a 13-year-old child alongside Diddy, back in 2000 via a civil lawsuit. Hours after the filing, Jay-Z responded to the filing by claiming that his lawyer received a blackmail letter from Buzbee, who he called a "fraud" and a "deplorable human being". The rapper denied the allegations against him and urged Buzbee to file a criminal complaint.
Hours after Jay-Z's statement, Tony Buzbee took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself from back in his Marine Corps days, when he was a Weapons Platoon Commander. In the caption to his post, the Texas attorney detailed the alleged abuse he and his family had been getting recently. He stated:
"Despite a coordinated and aggressive effort that has included harassing my kids, contacting my clients and former clients to encourage them to sue me, contacting my colleagues or former employees asking if I’ve “abused” them, showing up at my current employees’ homes to harass them, filing frivolous cases against me and my law firm, defaming me with outrageous assertions to anyone who will listen, and having mysterious people follow me and my family, I’m still THAT guy."
The lawyer pledged that he would not be "bullied or intimidated". He proclaimed that the truth would be revealed despite the effort to discredit him and his clients. Tony Buzbee wasn't prepared to let anyone scare his clients into silence, so he concluded by stating that sunlight was the best disinfectant and that the sun was coming.
"I have no idea how you have come to be such a deplorable human": Jay-Z tells Tony Buzbee
As mentioned earlier, NBC News reported that Jay-Z was accused of r*ping a 13-year-old minor alongside Diddy in a civil lawsuit filed on Sunday by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee. Sunday's refiling added to the original federal lawsuit filed earlier in October 2024.
The lawsuit filed in October only listed Sean "Diddy" Combs as a defendant, Sunday's revision added Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter as a second defendant. Immediately after the news broke, Jay-Z released a statement on his @rocnation Instagram account vehemently opposing the allegations.
The 99 Problems hitmaker alleged that his lawyer received a "demand letter", which he called a "blackmail attempt" from Tony Buzbee. Jay-Z alleged:
"What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!! "
The rapper stated that the allegations against him were "so heinous" in nature that he implored Tony Buzbee to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one as he felt that anyone capable of committing such a crime should be locked away. Jay-Z wrote that the alleged victims deserved real justice and claimed that Buzbee had a pattern of "these types of theatrics". The rapper wrote:
"I have no idea how you have come to be such a deplorable human Mr. Buzbee, but I promise you I have seen your kind many times over. I’m more than prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity. "
Jay-Z's only heartbreak was for his family as his eldest daughter was bound to hear these allegations from the press. Hence, the rapper claimed that he and his wife would have to talk to the children about the "cruelty and greed of people". The rapper mourned the loss of innocence and claimed that kids should not have to endure such at a young age.
Jay-Z wrote that his heart went out to the victims who had to watch their life story get "dressed in costume for profitability" by who he called an "ambulance chaser in a cheap suit". According to the rapper, Tony Buzbee had made a "terrible error in judgment" by thinking that all celebrities were the same.
The rapper stated that he was not from Tony Buzbee's "moral world" and was instead a person who made it out of the Brooklyn project. Jay-Z claimed that people like him did not play such "games" and had very strict "codes and honor". He said:
"We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable. I look forward to showing you just how different I am."
According to the lawsuit, an anonymous woman identified as "Jane Doe" accused both rappers of r*ping her when she was only 13 at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000. Jane Doe claimed in the lawsuit that a limo driver who allegedly worked for Diddy transported her to the after-party after noting that she "fit what Diddy was looking for".
At the party, Jane Doe alleged that she was offered a drink that made her feel "woozy" and disoriented. This prompted her to enter a room to rest. When she was resting Diddy and Jay-Z allegedly entered the room and took turns r*ping her while an unnamed female celebrity watched.
The accuser is seeking an unspecified amount in damages via the lawsuit filed under the New York Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
