Ariana Grande is one of the most followed musicians on social media. The singer-songwriter has a large crowd of Arianators who adore her, but she herself is a fan of canines.
Grande owns 10 dogs as of 2024 and has adopted most of them from animal shelters throughout the years. In 2018, the Bye singer even got herself a pet pig. Here's a timeline of every rescue dog Ariana has owned so far.
Ariana Grande has named several of her rescue dogs after Harry Potter characters
The first dog that Ariana Grande adopted was a Dachshund-German Shepherd mix in 2010. She named him Coco. The singer-actress's second dog is the most famous dog in her family—one she often takes with her on her tours, as she admitted on the Jimmy Fallon Show in 2016.
Grande adopted a Beagle-Chihuahua mix dog in 2013 and named him Toulouse, after the kitten in Disney's The Artistrocrat. On Fallon's show, the Side to Side singer revealed that Toulouse had also modeled for a Coach ad.
Grande's second rescue dog from 2013 was a black Labradoodle named Ophelia.
A year after Toulouse, Ariana adopted another dog—a pit bull mix—whom she named Cinnamon. She found from the shelter that the five-month-old pup was rescued from a box on the streets. Introducing Cinnamon to her social media family in a since-deleted Instagram post, Ariana Grande wrote:
"Now she lives with me and my other babies! She will be safe, spoiled and loved unconditionally! Absolutely shatters my heart how somebody could toss an innocent creature aside like that.”
In 2015, when Ariana Grande was in Tulsa to perform a set at the BOK Center, the Animal Foundation of Tulsa surprised the singer with a pre-show meet-and-greet.
As the We Can't Be Friends singer interacted with the eight dogs, she fell in love with one—a Yorkshire Terrier—whom she decided to adopt instantly. Grande later named him Strauss. Another dog the singer adopted that year was a Labradoodle, whom she named Sirius after a Harry Potter character.
A year later, Ariana brought home a bloodhound to join her canine squad and named it Lafayette. In 2017, the singer's mom, Joan Grande, gifted her a Chihuahua mix, whom Grande named Pignoli after a popular Italian cookie.
The other two dogs that Ariana named after J.K. Rowling's characters were a couple of Basset Hounds she adopted in 2019; the elder one was called Snape, while the pup was named Lily.
Grande also adopted a pig while dating Pete Davidson
In 2018, when Ariana Grande was dating Pete Davidson and the two had started living together, the POV singer decided to adopt a pig. Talking about it on the show Late Night with Seth Myers in September 2018, Davidson talked about their pet pig, Piggy Smallz, describing the incident that brought it into their lives:
"This girl, she was like, ‘I want a pig,’ and then an hour later, it was just there."
When asked by Myers what it was like to have a pet pig, he said:
"The first two days it was really new and didn’t move much, but now it’s starting to bite and do [pig] stuff. But I love it"
Ariana Grande wasn't done expanding her pet family, even after Piggy Smallz. When her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, died, Grande decided to bring home his dog, Myron, to raise him as her own, alongside her other pets.
In 2020, the Love Me Harder singer opened her own animal rescue shelter in LA, called the Orange Twins Rescue. The rescue's mission was to rehabilitate animals in need, despite their age or background.
