Billie Eilish loves animals and has talked openly about her love for horses, dogs, and animals in various interviews and events. Eilish has four pets so far, two of which have been dogs, with the other ones being a cat and a tarantula.

In July 2023, Eilish posted on Instagram to say goodbye to her first pet dog, Pepper, calling her "lifelong best friend" and expressing how much she would miss her.

As Pepper was a family pet, Billie Eilish's brother - Finneas - was equally moved by her death. The producer-songwriter also uploaded a mourning story for their pet on his Instagram handle, writing:

"Sweet Pepper, our dog has, at the ripe old age of 15, transcended her mortal form. A good, good dog who gave our family so much love and was loved by us all in equal measure."

All about Billie Eilish's pets

Besides Pepper, Billie Eilish also has a blue-nosed pitbull whom she has named Shark. According to Pets Radar, Billie hadn't originally planned to adopt the dog; the singer-songwriter decided to foster two pitbull pups from a non-profit animal shelter - Angel City Pit Bulls - during the pandemic in 2020. Over time, the bury a friend singer got so attached to the pups that she decided to keep one of them permanently.

While the then-19-year-old first introduced her Instagram followers to her dog as a "little nameless monkey" through her stories, she later revealed his name to be Shark.

In February 2021, Billie Eilish celebrated her dog Shark's first birthday on Instagram, indicating Shark was born in 2020 and is now four years old. She expressed how Shark made her life much better and encouraged others to foster and adopt pets, saying "this is your sign." Eilish also has a rescue cat named Misha, although Misha rarely appears on her social media.

According to Celebrity Pets, Eilish has also adopted a rescue cat named Misha, although she doesn't frequently appear on the What Was I Made For? singer's social media handle.

The singer-songwriter also had a tarantula as a pet, whom she had named Cooli. In a 2019 Instagram Q&A with her fans, Eilish shared her love of spiders with them, saying:

"I have a pet tarantula. You should come over and see him. He's blue, and he's very cute. They're fun, they're not gonna hurt you. They're cool. They have personalities."

The singer-songwriter had also put spiders and tarantulas into her mouth and let them crawl all over her face for a vertical music video of her 2018 song - you should see me in a crown - demonstrating her comfort level around the arachnids. The track was later included in her debut album - WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

Billie Eilish's brother, Finneas, also loves dogs. In 2019, after moving in with his girlfriend in their Los Feliz home, the couple adopted a female pitbull named Peach from the same shelter where Eilish adopted Shark. Finneas' girlfriend, Claudia Sulewski, documented their first 24 hours with Peach in a YouTube vlog.

Billie Eilish was named PETA's Person of the Year in 2021

Besides her own pets, Billie harbors a genuine concern for animals and their welfare. The singer-songwriter was raised a vegetarian by her parents and turned vegan when she was 12.

In 2021, Eilish partnered with Nike to launch the first vegan Nike Air Jordan shoes. Her deal with Oscar De La Renta to ditch the sale of fur before the 2021 Met Gala also took place the same year, leading Eilish to receive the honor of becoming PETA's Person of the Year - the youngest recipient of the award.

"PETA is happier than ever to celebrate her for seizing every opportunity to point out that vegan fashion and foods are kinder to the animals and the planet we share them with."
