It was in 2018 that Ariana Grande attended her first-ever Met Gala, where she appeared on the red carpet in a corsetted Vera Wang dress covered in prints of the Sistine Chapel and a large bow accentuating her high ponytail. Six years later, the 7 Rings singer returned to the Met Gala in yet another stunning attire - this time, donned in a white, strapless Loewe gown with a pearlescent bodice and flowy length.

The singer-songwriter has thus attended the Met Gala two times as of now.

Ari's look was accessorized with a pair of 3D wings attached to each side of her temples designed by makeup artist, Michael Anthony, with the rest of her makeup being from r.e.m. beauty - her own makeup line.

Ariana Grande was also the headliner of the event, which had been kept a secret till the very end. Grande performed seven songs at the event, for one of which she was joined by Cynthia Erivo.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performed When You Believe at the Met Gala together

Of all the songs that Ariana Grande performed at the Met Gala, her duet with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, came last. Together, the two singer-actresses covered Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's iconic song from 1998, When You Believe.

Besides their performance, the duo also greeted each other joyfully on the red carpet of the Met Gala, posing together for the media. In the recent past, the actresses have made several public appearances together for the promotion of their upcoming movie, often in coordinating outfits - Ari in pink and Erivo in green. Their movie, which is the first installment of the duology, will hit the box office this November, around Thanksgiving. The second part is slated for release in November 2025.

However, their Met Gala outfits reflected a contrast, where Grande was seen in a white, flowy gown while Erivo donned a black suit-gown with petals of pink rose splattered all across it.

Besides Grande and Erivo, the other cast members of Wicked who attended the Met Gala were Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero in the movie, and Jeff Goldblum, who will portray the Wizard of Oz in it.

Ethan Slater, another Wicked star and Ariana Grande's current boyfriend, was absent from the event.

Grande also performed songs from her latest album at the Met Gala

Of the seven songs that were on Ariana Grande's setlist for the Met Gala 2024, only one was a duet, with Grande performing the remaining six solo on stage.

Grande's performance opened on stage with Sleeping Beauty's Once Upon A Dream. To set the tone for the performance, the Positions singer was carried on-stage in a sleeping position and rose mid-stage as she started singing. Her performance was a homage to 2024's exhibition theme, which was - Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

Following the first song, Grande leaned into her next track - Into You - after which Ari sang her iconic hit, 7 Rings. The last three songs in Ariana Grande's set belonged to her seventh studio album - released earlier this year - including The Boy Is Mine, Yes, And? and we can't be friends (wait for your love).

While Ari had performed the last one live on SNL four months ago, the other two tracks from Eternal Sunshine made their live debut on Met Gala's stage.

To add to her performance, Ariana Grande and her team also put together Met Gala merch for her fans to purchase, as reported by Teen Vogue. It included a black hoodie with the phrase - we headlined the f***ing Met Gala, b**** - printed on it.
