Dolly Parton would be donating $1 million for the relief efforts taken after the destruction done by Hurricane Helene. The news was revealed by the singer while she was speaking at an event held at Walmart in Newport, Tennessee and the money would be sent to the nonprofit organization Mountain Ways Foundation.

The Rhinestone star has managed to impress the public with her singing skills throughout her career. This has additionally contributed to her wealth and she earns $85 million per year, as per Marca magazine. On the other hand, CelebrityNetWorth states that her net worth is $650 million.

Dolly Parton revealed at the Tennessee event that the donation would be made by the Walmart Foundation alongside Sam’s Club and the businesses owned by the Hannah Montana star. The actress was also accompanied by John Furner, who serves as the U.S. CEO of Walmart.

Parton also said at the event that the people she loves are present at the place and continued:

“I feel like all people are my people, but everyone here grew up in the mountains just like I did, so of course I have a close connection to them. I can’t stand to see anyone hurting, so I wanted to do what I could to help after these terrible floods.”

Notably, Dolly Parton was also born in Tennessee and she had previously spoken up about her upbringing on different occasions. She told USA Today in 2020 that her family used to live in the mountains and there were no roads. She even referred to her father by saying:

“He used to have a ride in on horseback, and the mountain people didn’t have any way to pay him with money, so you paid them with whatever you had, your canned goods or some ham or some whatever. We grew corn, and Daddy would take our corn to the mill to be ground.”
