On June 28, 2024, JT released the remix version of her song OKAY in collaboration with Jeezy. The newly released song is the first collaboration between Jay Wayne Jenkins aka Jeezy and JT and also one of the rapper's new ventures after he separated from Jeannie Mai.
In his verse of the track, the 46-year-old rapper referred to the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake and also mentioned that he's been in the music industry for 20 years. Jeezy's verse states:
"All I'm hearin' 'bout is Drizzy Drake and K.Dot/ Been on fire twenty years, b*tch, I stay hot"
The rapper began his music career in 2001 as Lil J with the track Thuggin' Under the Influence (T.U.I).
"Ever lost a real one, you dropped the ball, baby"- Jeezy addresses divorce on JT's track OKAY
Jeezy and his ex-wife Jeannie Mai met in 2018 on the set of Jeannie's talk show The Real. The pair got married in March 2021 in Atlanta and welcomed their daughter Monaco in January 2022.
The couple filed for divorce in 2023 and according to the court document information reported by ET, the duo decided to keep details of the settlement and its particulars under seal. The reason for the same was that making the documents public would outweigh public interest.
In the documents of divorce, Jeannie Mai alleged that Jeezy indulged in infidelity and mentioned a major financial penalty as part of their prenup agreement. Jeannie also accused the rapper of verbal abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse. All of these were denied by Jeezy in a statement given to The Times calling the allegations "deeply disturbing" and a "malicious attempt" to tarnish the rapper's character.
Apart from addressing the Kendrick-Drake feud and mentioning the number of years he's been in the industry, the rapper also addressed his split and allegations from ex-wife Jeannie Mai in OKAY.
Referring to how Jeannie Mai "lost a real one", the rapper compared himself to basketball player Young Jalen Brown with lyrics stating:
“Ever lost a real one, you dropped the ball, baby/ Young Jalen Brown, yeah, I’m ‘bout to ball, baby,”
Additionally, the Soul Survivor rapper also addressed Jeannie's allegations stating that the rapper used to walk around their home with a rifle. Commenting on the same via lyrics, Jeezy stated in OKAY:
"Summer '24, I'm single as a dollar bill/ Handsome and wealthy, can't forget the fact a n**ga real/ Why you got choppas in the house? 'Cause I'm a n**ga still"
In his statement replying to the allegations by Jeannie Mai, the rapper mentioned that there was "manipulation and deceit" at play. He also said that his primary concern was to be an active father to the ex-couple's daughter and that he hoped truth would prevail via proper legal channels.
According to ET, the rapper also made claims of Jeannie Mai falsifying claims because the rapper refused to have a second child with her. However, Jeannie Mai or her attorneys haven't responded to the same.
While the rapper claimed sole custody of his daughter in April 2024 on grounds of Jeannie Mai having a busy schedule, the ex-couple now has a permanent parenting plan in order.
