Then, he uploaded the one-minute diss track to SoundCloud marking the beginning of his rap career.

In an interview with Billboard dated August 2019, Lil Tecca talked about his music-making journey wherein he mentioned that the late Speaker Knockerz's melodic wave inspired him to make his beats and music. He recalled that when he was making music and when he started rapping, he liked listening to it comparing it to other artists who feel insecure with what they are making. The rapper told the publication that he's being "free with it."
Moreover, when Lil Tecca was asked how he knew his track Ransom was a hit, he mentioned that the track's producers at Internet Money made the beat bouncy and catchy, describing it as something short and sweet that "gets straight to the point". Saying that he was aware "there was something there" he recalled his mother woke him up early in the morning to a screenshot of Ransom making it to Billboard's Hot 100.
Mentioning he couldn't process the achievement at that time, Tecca said:
"I was just really proud of myself. You can’t go past the Billboard charts."
Next, the rapper was asked if he expected to avail of mainstream success at a young age and quickly. Lil Tecca said that he keeps catching his surprise the way things are going and that since every day could be different, he would like to go with the flow.
The rapper mentioned that his last four drops on SoundCloud ranked No.1 on the platform wherein Ransom was the most hyped song and dropping its music video at the time resulted in more popularity.
Toward the end of the interview, Lil Tecca addressed his deal with Republic Records and navigating fame at a young age. Commenting on the same, Tecca said:
"It’s a good thing, but it can be bad. That’s why I don’t talk about dumb stuff on Instagram. There’s so many people watching. I don’t think I’m a face for the youth, but they like me, I guess."
Lil Tecca has kept his streak of popular songs with his 2024 singles Never Last, Number 2, and Down With Me. All the tracks are part of Tecca's upcoming project called Plan A which is allegedly dropping in September 2024, according to the Genius website.
