Footage from Trippie Redd's tense traffic stop from 2023 just emerged. Back in 2023, Trippie Redd and his brother Hunter were pulled over for a traffic stop in Florida for having tinted windows after which it was revealed that the rapper didn't even have a license. Redd's car was also hotboxed with his security detail following him closely behind.
On Thursday, August 29, footage emerged of the tense exchange between the police and the rapper, who was eventually let go with a citation. Once the duo stepped out of the car, a tense female officer told them that Redd's security detail "heightened" them from 2 to 10 and informed them that this detail couldn't be part of the stop. The officer told Redd and his brother:
"I don't care if you're Drake. They cannot come to a traffic stop."
Bodycam footage from Trippie Redd's traffic stop shows officer warning the rapper about his security detail stopping alongside him
Bodycam footage of Trippie Redd's 2023 traffic stop dropped on Thursday, August 29. The footage dated 2023-01-12 was shared by the YouTube channel Raq Rarest and showed Trippie Redd and his brother Hunter getting pulled over by the police for having tinted windows. Redd's security detail was following close behind the rapper and also stopped for a traffic stop.
However, the police requested that the security detail leave before approaching Trippie and his brother. Trippie Redd was the driver while his brother sat in the passenger's seat. Once officers ensured that Trippie's vehicle did not contain any weapons, he was asked if he had a driving license.
The rapper revealed that did not have his license at the time, and never had a license in the first place. He claimed that he was able to drive as he was sat next to his brother who had a license. Trippie complied when the officers asked him to get out of the vehicle and noted that he was just trying to be nice.
A female officer asked Redd to step back and she explained to the rapper what was going on, noting that the duo were hotboxing. She said:
"You said that you're trying to be nice, you're hotboxing. You are not in cuffs right now because I'm being nice okay? So that's number 1. If I didn't like what I was feeling you'd be in handcuffs because I have the right to do that,"
The officer further explained that Trippie Redd's security detail also pulling up alongside them for the traffic stop was bad for the safety of the police. Redd apologized but the officer noted that despite his older brother being in the car, he was still not allowed to drive. She further explained:
"I'm not trying to start no s**t with you but what you're not gonna do is tell me how this traffic stop is gonna go. They just heightened us from two to 10, I don't give a s**t if that's your security guard or not,"
The police officer explained that officers were getting shot out in the area for telling people that their gas caps were open. Trippie Redd interrupted the officer, but she raised her voice and told him to let her finish what she was talking about multiple times.
The officer said she understood what happens on both sides of the world but also claimed that Trippie security detail still didn't understand the gravity of the situation. As mentioned earlier, the officer did not care even if the rapper was Drake and once again reiterated that his security could not be part of a traffic stop. She asked the duo to have a seat on the curb and told them:
"So you have no license and you're driving, that's one citation. You're probably gonna be arrested but that's my discretion."
The officer later explained the situation to Redd's security detail. Trippie Redd was not arrested and was instead given a citation. However, his brother Hunter was taken into custody at a nearby jail after police found weed next to the passenger seat.
