Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland, the prosecutor's star witness during Young Thug's trial, announced that he was "genuinely happy" that Thugger and the rest of the YSL crew involved in the trial get to come home. During an appearance on The Danza Project podcast on Saturday, November 2, Copeland revealed that he did not feel threatened by Thug's release. He said:

"I don’t have no fear. They’re not a threat to me. And I’m not a threat to them,"

Woody became a viral sensation during the trial, most famously for claiming that he did not recall key details regarding the case on multiple occasions. Young Thug was released from prison on Thursday, October 31, after accepting a plea deal that granted him 15 years of probation and time served.

"I love Thug"— Young Thug prosecutor's star witness Lil Woody

During The Danza Project podcast, Lil Woody recalled that he went through a "dark phase" in his life when he let "the demons" get the best of him. He added:

"People say, ‘oh, he a killer.’ No, bro. When them demons get to you, n***as can say whatever they want. I know y’all ain’t been in my position. I ain’t got no point to prove to y’all,"

When Woody was asked if he ever saw a day when he and Young Thug sat down together, he stated that he did not want to speak about that. According to Woody, God had a "unique" way of doing things, what was meant was meant, and what wasn't, simply just wasn't.

Lil Woody revealed that he had been through the "storm" and was living his life the way he wanted to live it. He added:

"I love Thug, I love Shannon, I love Yak, Quay, I love all them boys. And if they feel some time of way towards me, all I can ask is God for forgiveness and move forward. I ain't looking to do nothing to nobody."

Lil Woody became a viral sensation following his various antics during Young Thug's trial. He was brought in as a star witness by the prosecution after being granted immunity in exchange for his testimony. According to an ANF article from August, prosecutors hoped to link Woody's testimonies with the criminal activity allegedly performed by YSL, an alleged gang that Young Thug was a part of, including the 2015 Donovan Thomas murder.

During his testimony in August, Woody became internet-famous for repeatedly using the phrase "I don't recall" when asked about key details from the case. According to Newsweek, when Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker asked Woody if he was ready to re-testify in the case, he simply replied that it depended on how he woke up that day.

Woody's "I don't recall" became so famous that he dropped a song of the same name in August and started selling merchandise centered around the phrase, including scarfs and T-shirts. During his testimony in August, Woody was once seen falling asleep during the proceedings and even asked Whitaker if he could come an hour late the following day, citing a lack of sleep, but his request was denied.

In that same month, when Lil Woody claimed not to recall what he had told the police on various occasions, prosecutors played footage from his 2015 interview with the police in which he allegedly explained the details surrounding the murder of Donavan Thomas. He was also seen telling the authorities about Young Thug's alleged criminal involvements.

However, as quoted by Newsweek, Woody claimed during his testimony that he lied to the police about the alleged crimes committed by Thug to get them off his back. Lil Woody said:

"So what I did was, to get them off me, I said, 'Thug did this, Thug did that.' Because I knew he didn't do it."

He added:

"They want to hear about Thug, so I'm about to sit right here and gas them up. I'm about to sit right here and say he killed 19 people, all types of stuff."

On Thursday, October 31, Young Thug was released from prison after two years of incarceration. His guilty plea landed him a 40-year sentence, with the first five years to be served in prison, which was then commuted to time served. He also received 15-year probation with a slew of conditions.

If these conditions are fulfilled, the remaining 20 years of Young Thug's sentence would be attributed to time served. Failing to do so will result in Thug serving those 20 years behind bars.
