Rakim recently performed at the ICP's annual Gathering of the Juggalos festival on August 26, 2024. During the set, the crowd threw some bottles on the stage, which the rapper did not take too kindly. He responded to thrown battles by chastising the crowd, stating:
"Chill with the motherf**king bottles, man. For everybody that came to have a good time, make some noise. Cause, you know, I’m not tryna get hit with no fucking bottle, man. I love y’all, but I don’t wanna walk off stage while we having a good time, you know what I mean?"
. The incident was recorded live and can be seen in the tweet embedded below:
Rakim's Juggalos performance came on the heels of his new music
Rakim's Juggalos performance came after the release of the rapper's newest studio album, G.O.D.'s Network: Reb7rth, on July 25, 2024. The rapper performed songs from his previous catalog at the festival as well as some new tracks, interrupted by the aforementioned incident.
G.O.D.'s Network: Reb7rth, the rapper's fourth album, has been commercially successful since its release, charting at the 2nd spot on the Itunes Rap 100 chart and the 8th spot on the Worldwide Digital Top 100 chart. The tracklist for the album is given below:
- Be Ill (Feat. Kurupt & Masta Killa)
- Now Is The Time (Ft. B.G., Hus Kingpin, & Compton Menance)
- Love Is The Message (Ft. Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, Planet Asia, Louis King, Sally Green, Kobe Honeycutt, & the LA Grand Choir)
- God’s Playground (Ft. 38 Spesh, Skyzoo, Fred The Godson, & DMX)

The rapper elaborated on his new album and the process behind it in an exclusive interview with Billboard on July 26, 2024:
"I think the time was just right. The stars finally aligned for me, and I took advantage. There were a couple of label situations that I was trying to get done. Just a deal that I felt was worth my worth. Sometimes things don’t happen the way they should, and I’m not the one to settle."
The rapper continued:
"I’ve been in the game for a long time so my deal isn’t gonna be like an up-and-coming new artist’s deal would be. Artists that have been here for a while, we have to understand our worth, otherwise, everybody else’s goes down. Our art reflects who we are..."
The singer later wrapped up the interview on the note that he had a lot more tracks set to release in the near future:
"..I’m getting confident with my tracks. I gotta a lot of tracks over here. I just been storing the right time. I’m working on a solo Rakim joint and working on a couple other projects as well. So, I’m just looking forward to just staying in the studio. I took the year off from touring just so I could get studio work done. Hopefully, you hear a lot of new music from Rakim."
Rakim is best known for his debut album, The 18th Letter, which was released on November 4, 1997, by Universal. The gold-certified album charted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart and at number 57 on the Dutch album chart. The album's themes concerned the state of hip-hop and Rakim's rapping prowess and was produced by the likes of Pete Rock and DJ Premier.
