Since 2017, Rod Wave has consistently released a project every single year and has now delivered fans his sixth studio album titled Last Lap. The project was uploaded to all major streaming platforms on Friday via Alamo Records and Sony Music Entertainment.
Rod Wave's latest album officially follows up on 2023's Nostalgia, which hosted guest appearances from 21 Savage, Wet, and Sadie Jean. That said, the rapper did deliver fun features on Last Lap, collaborating with artists like Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, and more.
In the caption of the rapper's album release post, Rod highlighted his appreciation for the support of his fans and for always having his back when he stated:
"Thank you for allowing me to live out my dream was truly a blessing, thank you for helping me take care my kids and family, thank you for the hard times as well the constructive criticism the ups the down thank you for the good the bad thank you"
Upon Rod's Last Lap being delivered to streaming, fans took to social media platforms to share their appreciation for the rapper and his new project. One individual was seen expressing their long "wait" for a fresh album from the Florida native.
More reactions followed with fans expressing a similar excitement regarding the release of Rod Wave's sixth studio album, with many highlighting their appreciation for Last Lap's deep, emotional, undertone.
"This album is jus beautiful asf I been crying for 40 mins straight ughhhhhhh" - A fan stated.

More recently, news media outlets on X (formerly Twitter) began reporting that Rod Wave's Last Lap could potentially be aiming for the biggest Apple Music streaming debut since Taylor Swift dropped The Tortured Poets Department, in April.
This news resulted in a discussion amongst fans and critics on Rod Wave's impact on the hip-hop and music industry, with a greater emphasis on how the rapper curated a supposedly larger "female fanbase".
"Rod wave is prime example of twitter hate has no impact on the real world" - An individual stated.
"Where do all of these Rod Wave fans come from every time he drops an album? There is no discussion of him or his music but every time he drops people listen." - A user questioned.
"Rod Wave is so popular everywhere but the internet, he got a crazy fanbase but they not the type to be vocal online — he won in that regard. + he got a HUGE female audience which a lot of rappers don’t have" - A hip-hop news account responded.
"For the people who are shocked y’all also have to realize apple music is significantly smaller user base than spotify and apple music tends to have more hip hop/r&b listeners" - A user claimed.
