Gene Deal, the former head of security of Sean “Diddy” Combs, recently sat down with The Art of Dialogue and shared how late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.’s mother approved of him exposing his former boss.

During the October 20 episode, a call recording was played where Biggie’s mom, aka Ms. Voletta Wallace, said to Gene, “You do what you gotta do.” She was also heard telling Deal how she had been watching him on social media being candid about her deceased son amid the conversation surrounding Diddy’s ongoing legal troubles.

Following this, the ex-bodyguard explained that he had known Biggie’s mother since 1997, when he went to tell her about her son’s fatal shooting.

“I seen how this lady loved and lost her only child and brother when I say that it was an emotional time sitting there with her is something that I’ll never forget,” Gene Deal shared.

For those unaware, The Notorious B.I.G. was killed in March 1997 in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles at the age of 24.

Exploring Gene Deal’s latest comments about Biggie’s demise and its alleged link to Diddy

Gene Deal recently shared a phone call with The Notorious B.I.G.’s mother and apologized for publicly talking about her son’s association with now-disgraced hip-hop mogul Diddy. He also told her that if she wanted him to “shut it down,” he would do it. However, Ms. Wallace replied by saying it was alright and he did what he had to do.

The call recording that took place during the recent collab between The Paperwork Party (Season 6) and The Gene Deal Show was recently played during Gene Deal’s appearance on The Art of Dialogue. He called it “exhilarating” and “one of the highlights” of him regularly coming on the show and exposing his former boss Diddy, who is currently in federal custody.

“Since ’97, since I seen Ms. Wallace… To hold Ms. Wallace hand and explain to what happened to her son that night, it was one of the, I guess, most emotional times I have ever had in my life, ‘cause here I am explaining how your son died and his last words and everything that went on…” Deal shared.

Gene explained how until the night he went to give Ms. Wallace the news about her son’s passing, they didn’t know each other, despite him being one of the people who she “trusted” her son’s life with. He added how his fraternity brother Bill Willard was with Biggie’s mother on that fateful night and reached out to him.

The former Diddy bodyguard mentioned how he was the one to break the tragic news to her and was also beside her during her son’s memorial services and witnessed first-hand how she “loved and lost” her only child. Gene Deal added how he never wanted to “go through” the pain she felt and didn’t wish it upon anybody else either.

“Ms. Wallace is a strong lady… She got that down home like she’s about her business. But I used to be hurt because I knew the people she had around her was Puff boys. So, we could never connect like that,” he claimed.

Gene Deal explained that the only time she ever got in touch with Biggie’s mother after 1997 was when one of her lawyers, Perry Sanders, called him up for some help. He claimed that Ms. Wallace was always surrounded by Diddy’s men, who were there for their own “benefit,” and were allegedly after the estate left behind by The Notorious B.I.G.

Not only that but according to Diddy’s former head of security, Biggie’s estate manager Wayne Barrows, and friend, associate, and record producer Mark Pitts were also okay with Sean Combs’ involvement. Elsewhere, Gene Deal claimed that he was not allowed to connect to Ms. Wallace until recently when she gave him her green signal to openly talk about Biggie.

The industry insider even claimed that the mother of the late Anthony “Wolf” Jones, who was Diddy’s bodyguard, friend, and confidant, also gave him the “right on behalf of her son” as well as her “blessings” to say what he needed to say and compared that to Biggie’s mother’s recent approval.

Biggie’s mother wanted to “slap the daylights” out of Diddy

Earlier this year, CNN published a previously unseen hotel surveillance video showing Sean Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend Cassie in a hotel lobby from an incident dating back to 2016. In the wake of the viral footage, Biggie’s mother sat down for an interview with Rolling Stones in late May 2024 and shared how disgusted he was by Diddy’s actions.

"I'm sick to my stomach. I'm praying for Cassie. I'm praying for his mother. I don't want to believe the things that I've heard, but I've seen (the hotel video). I pray that he apologizes to her," she stated.

Ms. Wallace further went on to add:

"I hope that I see Sean one day and the only thing I want to do is slap the daylights out of him. And you can quote me on that. Because I liked him. I didn't want to believe all the awful things, but I'm so ashamed and embarrassed."

She wrapped up by saying how Diddy also needed to “apologize to his own mother” for all his alleged wrongdoings and hoped that the Bad Boy Records founder sat his mother Janice Small Combs down and “spills his guts… to her.”

For those unaware, Biggie passed away from multiple gunshot wounds on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles. He left Diddy’s Vibe Magazine party a little before midnight with his entourage comprising his friend and collaborator Sean Combs and their associates in separate cars.

However, when his GMC Suburban SUV stopped at a red light, another car, a Chevrolet Impala SS, pulled up next to it and shot four rounds at Biggie, who was seated in the front passenger seat. Later that night, he was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The murder remains unsolved to date. However, over the decades, it has often been speculated that The Notorious B.I.G.’s murder was a payback for Tupac Shakur’s 1996 killing and was a result of their years-long rap feud.
