Da Band's former member Freddy P sat for an interview with The Art of Dialogue on September 20, 2024, in the wake of Diddy’s recent arrest. During the session, he claimed that the Bad Boys Records founder was allegedly in a “gay” relationship with rapper, actor, and TV presenter Fonzworth Bentley.
“I think Fonzworth was his little boyfriend, girlfriend, at one time. You have to see how they [were] conducting themselves. I don’t wanna say that about Bentley, because Bentley got kids and sh*t and I got respect for that n*gga. He was one of the few n*ggas I f*cked with,” Freddy P claimed.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Freddy P shared his experiences of working with Sean Combs, saying people around him had been enabling his "bad behavior" and had their "own skeletons" used against them. He further called the Love Album creator's recent federal arrest "long overdue."
For those unaware, Sean “Diddy” Combs formed a hip-hop group called Da Band in 2002, consisting of Freddy P as one of the members. The band was later disbanded in 2004.
Meanwhile, Fonzworth Bentley, whose real name is Derek Watkins, is best known as Diddy’s former personal valet and assistant. He first came to the limelight on the sets of the reality TV series Making the Band 2, which incidentally documented the formation of Da Band.
"Now that we know the monster" — Freddy P's recent remarks about Diddy
Earlier this week, Freddy P appeared for a chat with The Art of Dialogue and shared his accounts from the time spent under Sean Combs’ mentorship during their Da Band days. At one point he claimed that Fonzworth Bentley was Diddy’s “little boyfriend” and he no longer looked at Bentley the same way.
“Now that we know the monster, man, you [Fonzworth] carried that man’s umbrella. I watched this man disrespect you every chance he got. He talked to you like his b*tch,” Freddy P shared.
He further claimed that Combs was “gay” and so was everyone around him, adding:
"I don’t think you get to stay around him unless you’ve proven that either you are with the sh*t or the sh*t don’t bother you.”
Freddy also alleged that not a single man who has hung around Diddy has not been in a s*xual relationship with him and claimed that the hip-hop mogul has an “addiction” to “turning people out.”
The Miami-based MC recalled that earlier this year, Fonzworth Bentley took to his social media and claimed that he shouldn’t be allowed to tell his story. However, it is noteworthy that neither Combs nor Bentley has ever confirmed having a relationship.
Elsewhere during the interview, Freddy P claimed that he saw Diddy approaching and “preying” on men, especially the ones going through “financial situations” and needing someone rich and powerful to “fall back” upon.
“He’s literally assaulting men. It may be common nowadays, but for a man to walk up and slap your a*s and say ‘Let me get your number’ or ‘Come to my hotel room,’ that sh*t is not normal and I never heard no sh*t like that in my lifetime,” Freddy P alleged about Diddy.
He continued:
“It’s a lot of rappers out here that have secrets because they fell into these situations with Puffy — and I know this personally.”
Furthermore, Freddy explained why he decided to quit Da Band and permanently ended his association with Diddy. He shared an anecdote in which one day he woke up in a “mood” and was “frustrated with a lot of sh*t going on” when he was confronted by Combs at the studio.
Freddrick Watson claimed that Diddy threatened him in front of everybody saying how he would buy every house on his block, shut every light off, and every time Freddy would try to “come out” he would get “popped.” Freddy added that the warning “silenced” him and he left soon after.
The former MTV cast member also shared how Diddy’s recent arrest came as a “surprise” and “shock” to him, but it was “long overdue,” as he had been getting away with too much for too long, and it raised doubts on whether “the feds were even doing their jobs.” Freddy P opined that Diddy was unable to give up power or “live his truth” which eventually led to his legal troubles.
“The more he tried to hide, the worse it got. A lot of stuff Puffy is going through, and I don’t wish bad on him. But it’s sensitive because there are a lot of victims here… I don’t like the man, but I still have love for him. I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for him. He saw something in me when there were 40,000 other people.” he wrapped up.
Freddy P also teased a Netflix documentary on Diddy, saying he was working on it and when it finally comes out, it would “shock” the world. Whether his upcoming project is the same expose that 50 Cent has been making remains undisclosed.
For those uninitiated, Sean Combs was arrested in New York City on September 16 on the felony charges of racketeering conspiracy; s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is currently being held without bond at the Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn, and has pled “not guilty.”
